Should industry professionals be obliged to purchase & use the products/services of their respective companies in which they work?
Should Airtel employees be using Airtel network? (Even if a JIO plan would be more beneficial to them personally)
Should marketing professionals be using the products they market?
What should they do if the rival company’s products are more economical to use?
No one should be obliged to use the product/service of the company they work for. If the company really manages to make a relevant product/service, not just the employees but the customers will also endorse the product. But, if the company is adamant about the employees endorsing their not so competitive product/service, they should make an offer the employees won’t refuse. (Ex- BSNL)
In case of a marketing professional, i think it is very important for a sales/marketing guy to sell a product/service they believe in. I think if it is there, then they would definitely use the product or service.
This should definitely not be a compulsion. Every company has a different target segment of their customers; Let’s say Jaguar, it targets upper class customers in India-China, typically top 1% of the population. Would employees of Jaguar be able to afford it? another one: Say Chic shampoos; It targeted lower income class consumers who can’t spend much of shampoo, it introduced 1, 2 rupee sachet for the same, would it make sense that Chic’s brand manager should also use it?
It is very important that employees of a particular company should know customer pain-points and their aspirations; using the product or not is immaterial
