The House Of Ideas And Power Of Performance – IIM Rohtak

A one hour ride from Delhi to Rohtak on a smooth expressway leads you to the first IIM in the north, IIM Rohtak. The splendid campus is set in the 200 acres of land in Sunariyan village, 15km from the city. Though the campus is still under construction both in terms of infrastructure and intellectual capital, it gives the students more than enough wings to explore the sky galore with opportunities such as this prestigious competition. Let’s explore some of these wings:

House of Ideas

The old IIM culture is deeply rooted in this new IIM but it only allows it to tread its own path in terms of making things happen. IIM Rohtak facilitates the process of ideation and building upon them. An incubator to help promising start-ups find their way into the future of success, and alumni setting up their own political think-tank are some of the ideas that shaped up in the ideological walls of this campus.

Power of Performance

A student enters this system to a surprise called Aarambh and swears to live by it his/her entire life. The hard work coupled with creative thinking and seamless implementation is what we learn here and practice it for the entire two years of MBA life. From clearing prestigious exams like CFA to cracking national level competitions, it all happens here like a regular activity. In the past years, our students have reached the national finals of competitions like-Amazon Ace, L&T Outthink etc. and won some like Motilal Oswal Think Equity Think QGLP.

Improvement is the only constant

Consistent improvement is an important constituent of the air in this campus. We always strive to keep learning and improving. Be it academics or industry interaction, we have come a long way. The institute is constantly working on improving the gender diversity in the batch and has been successful in improving it from 10% in 2016 to 50% in 2018 with a general increase in batch quality. The introduction of more data analytics subjects is one step in the direction of learning from industry trends and requirements.

Turning Lemons into Lemonade

True to an old saying, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade”, IIM Rohtak swears to take difficulties head on and turn into opportunities worth exploring. As a new IIM, the institute had quite a few handicaps such as a makeshift campus, less permanent faculty and less lucrative job opportunities for the students. But it turned these obstacles into opportunities such as being a pioneer in digital education in the premier management education space. And exploring summer internship opportunities with a new FMCG giant Patanjali, which only recruited from IIM-Ahmedabad and Lucknow earlier was another such successful attempt.
