Going into flashback, I think of my early childhood days where the satisfaction of the warm food in the lunch breaks because of Freshwrapp foils by Hindalco were the best part, my first interaction with ABG as a child.
Growing up a little more, as a school kid moving out to another city for higher education staying all alone, wearing stylish clothes were in trend and that’s when I came to know about Louis Philippe and Allen Solly which always fulfilled my fashion needs.
Further growing up, I moved to another corner of the city for my college, where we needed a go-to place for all the latest trends which provided us with a wide range of fashion outfits in all the range, basically, even if a college student is broke, they wouldn’t come out empty-handed from Pantaloons. Since then I have been shopping at Pantaloons for all the festivals.
One month down the line after my placements, when I got my first salary, I thought of gifting a beautiful dress to my sister who demanded it to be from Forever 21.
Coming back to my present life, just after clearing my MBA Entrance exams, all I could think of was the Interviews and impressing the Interviewers and to create that first impression, I had to suit up and that’s when the Van Heusen came to rescue.
Apart from all these, ABG keeps us all connected through their uninterrupted telecom service Idea and Vodafone, which makes me feel close to my family and friends always irrespective of wherever I am.
Even if I was not aware that all these brands were under a single conglomerate ABG, I kept using them and I am sure everyone would have their own beautiful story with ABG.
ABG provides a lot of importance to aesthetic values in each and every product they offer in all the 14 different industries. It has come a long way since its inception and has been increasing its reach since then and has become an important part of people all around the world, even mine.
The ABG’s CSR tag line “Big on Smiles” is one of the things everyone can associate themselves with. ABG indirectly impacts our life by taking a lot of measures to improve not just our society, but our country by making it a better place to live in. Their initiatives and actions in Infrastructure, Education, Healthcare, etc. will impact future generations by taking sustainability into consideration.
How have I made an impact?
Being an active member of the organizing committee of the technical and cultural festival during my engineering, I always had an inclination towards a management job, but my destiny took me to a core Software Development profile.
After joining the organization as an Intern, I was assigned a project to be worked on single-handedly, which was to be built from scratch i.e. I had to work as a Full-stack developer taking care of both client and server. Frankly speaking, I was not too confident about my coding skills. So, I got scared and didn’t know how to learn all the frameworks and work on it simultaneously in a small span of time. Just after a week of the project, my team leader walked up to me and asked me about the status of the project and told me that it’s getting late. I was horrified and worried as hell and got so tensed that I couldn't sleep. All I kept thinking was that I let them down and now my team wouldn't expect much from me or will I ever be able to earn the respect and recognition in my organization.
I started spending 15-16 hours on my work every day where I learned as much as I could and implement in real-time. Once I gained the confidence and fulfilled the expectations of my team, there was nothing to stop me from achieving everything I wanted. Soon by the end of this project, my team lead appreciated me and said that he doesn't have any second thoughts about my performance and he is proud of it. I single-handedly developed the product as expected before the estimated time with minimal bugs. Since I was always interested in the managerial aspects of the organization, I tried to expand my knowledge and domain and started looking into the marketing, customer support and community, sales and all the aspects of an organization. I worked in the organization for three years and was always the top performer where I learned to understand the customer's requirement and worked accordingly, one of the qualities that distinguished me from my peers.
So, basically through my constant passion and hard work, I achieved and excelled in a field which didn't excite me much at the earlier stage, but now I love it and I am proud that I was given this opportunity and I could realize what I am capable of.
