Peter England, Van Heusen and Louis Phillip used to be my father’s go-to shopping places for clothes. With all of these logos and brands around me, it never dawned upon me that it all was because of a singular company that had such diverse brands that encompassed their arms around my life. ABG’s CSR initiatives in Healthcare, Education, Livelihood, Infrastructure and its endeavour in making model villages is indeed making our society better.
How I overcame some challenges in my life:
Like all teenagers who had to make a decision during their 10th standard, I made mine and decided to take up Biology. Unfortunately for me, my CGPA fell short for the primary listing and I was allotted into the temporary section along with others like me. I had two choices in that section: either take humanities or wait in anticipation for another revised list to come and hope that I am allotted the biology section. I opted for the latter, which began the first truly low phase in my life. I had lost my will to go to school, which my mother saw. For something out of her character, she allowed me to stay at home as she saw how down I felt. In order to distract myself I started to play videogames. In particular: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. One of the things it taught me that one strategy is to wait out the storm, and not lose hope, no matter how hard it becomes. Had it not been for that videogame, I cannot imagine myself coming back stronger than ever, when I finally got the stream I wanted.
Another challenge I faced was when I, along with thousands of employees were laid off at my previous workplace. By keeping a level head and planning for the future in a careful manner, I was able to not only take out time to develop myself from my experiences at work, but also get selected at SDA Bocconi Asia Center, where I currently am studying.
