Aditya Birla Group was founded in early 1857 in India by Seth Shiv Narayan Birla into the business of cotton trading operations at Pilani, Rajasthan. Since that time the Birla group has directly or indirectly affected almost every individual in India. The Birla group is known for its diversity, getting involved and also initiated many things since India’s independence such as Grasim was incorporated in 1947 at Gwalior-MP, Indian Rayon Corporation Limited was acquired in 1966, few of the initiatives started by Birla Group were Eastern Spinning Mills and Industries, Mangalore Refineries and Petrochemicals Limited in Karnataka, along with its footstep in the field of fashion and retails, finance, cement industry and countless more. Today ABG is in the League of Fortune 500 with a force of over 1.2 Lacs employees.
I am pretty sure the Aditya Birla Group is known to most of the people and it has made an impact on many of our lives. Now I want to tell you my story, how I got to know about Aditya Birla Group and how it has impacted my lifestyle. I was always a fan of Van Heusen and Allen Solly from a long time and used to wear these brands, I was actually unaware of the fact that these two belong to the same company ABG. Last year in November I had to attend a wedding function of my relative, and I had to shop for it, you all know that wedding wears are only used in parties, so I wanted to purchase some semi-casual wear this time, upon lots of searching for the perfect semi-casual party wear, I ended up in Louis Phillips store where I purchased the perfect combination for party wear that can also we used to wear as formals, there I got to know from the store’s employee that it’s a brand from ABG which is known for its quality and reliable products and yes after using it for so long I can clearly agree with their vision of quality and reliability.
How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life.
There were many challenges which I have faced in my life, but here I want to talk about the most significant challenge that I faced after completing my Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Bangalore.
Since I was a graduate from electrical background, there was not much of option in the core field in my college and also I was not interested in going to electrical field, so I tried to get into the IT sector, but since I was weak in coding, I was unable to clear the written exams of the IT companies. After graduating from college I had no job and I was unsure whether to get a job or prepare for higher studies and pressure was building up on me by each passing day.
After a deep thought, I made up my decision to first stabilize myself by getting a job and then go for higher studies, and now it was clear to me what I wanted to do with my life. Bangalore is also known as the silicon valley of India and many people think that getting a job in the IT field in Bangalore is a cakewalk but that’s not true, it might be for some people who are from Computer Science background and also good in coding. But for a person coming from different background such as Electrical, it was difficult for me. With some proper guidance from my friends and relatives who were in Bangalore, I joined an institute which helped me in learning coding and also provided me with a placement opportunity, after a long struggle of about eight months and giving countless interviews, I finally managed to get offer letters from a few MNCs and a startup company.
I will never forget these 8 months of my life, I learnt many things about life such as you are not entitled to anything, you have to work very hard to earn what you deserve. During this period I got a few insights about the IT companies and how they work with the freshers, keeping these factors in mind I joined a startup company and worked there for about 14 months where I faced many different challenges but that for another story. This startup company helped me gain experience of how IT Company works, from product development to client engagements and taught me how to push your limits. Now being a part of IIM Raipur, I am looking forward to the opportunities in the form of challenges to overcome them and do even better in life.
