During my college days, we conducted a national wide technical fest for which I was the Marketing head for the team. The funds which we raised by sponsorship were a bare minimum due to which we could not proceed further and had plans to cancel the fest for that particular year. Then I thought to give a final shot and sat with my team for a couple of days and decided to strategize a different plan by which we split the number of sponsors in every category and reduced the cost of sponsorship & increased the number of companies wanting to sponsor with us. In a month time this plan had worked out and we exceeded our targets than the previous year and also the fest was a huge success.
Initially I was panicked and a little nervous when the senior team consisting of the president and the vice president decided to call of the event. Then I wanted to take complete ownership when we were in crisis and worked along with my team continuously going to drives and fetching as many sponsors as we could. When we had achieved our target, the satisfaction and the pleasure I had was immense.
It was my optimism that drove me forward and made me think that there could be a different solution to that problem . I tried to think creatively and worked with my team continuously brainstorming ideas and had the ability to convince our senior club members which finally made us to achieve our target.
The lesson I learnt from this was that, even when things are out of hand and beyond repair, it always takes that extra effort and creative thinking if applied positively can always bring a positive outcome. This has actually made me to never give up on things and also I try to find solutions to any challenge given.
