How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far?
Challenges in one’s life is inevitable. It is how we respond to them shapes who we become. It was the placement season of our college, It was finally the time to test ourselves and check what are we worthy of. I would be the 50th percentile of my batch, with a modest CGPA of 7.87. The companies started visiting the Campus and I started well, making it past the first couple of rounds, but was ultimately eliminated. Only a few from our batch got the offer. 20 days into the placement process, 95% percent of the batch was still unplaced. To the delight of our class, the placement week was arriving soon, wherein the majority of the mass recruiters come with IT software roles and a very modest salary. After careful considering, I decided to skip sitting for placement activity of mass recruiters as it would have seriously limited my chances of sitting for other companies. I knew that I would have to maximize any chance I get for other companies if I were to leave the campus with a job. After the process, 90% of the batch was placed. There were some serious eyebrows raised regarding my decision. People were busy celebrating and partying.I stopped getting invitations for meetups and parties, I was considered ‘the party spoiler’. The sit for a few more companies after that, but I could not make it past the first round, it was a major setback. I decided to work hard on myself, I started following a routine, played cricket daily and most importantly studied daily for at least two hours. I abided by the same routine for the 30 days. The opportunity finally arrived, a German multinational conglomerate company visited our campus after 4 years, the entire batch was excited and sat for the process. To much to the surprise of the batch, I made it past the aptitude round and the technical round along with few toppers. The real test was the interview, I was prepared for it, after an hour of grueling technical Interview and an HR interview, I became one of three students who got recruited. That was one of the happiest days of my life, I had made my parents proud.
