“But you know, happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”
“If you want to know what a man’s like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals”
“We’ve all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That’s who we really are”
“It matters not what someone is born, but what they grow to be.”
Growing up in a picturesque town of Udaipur, I looked more like a Dudley than a Harry Potter. The first challenge I faced was that of being overweight. Losing 15 kgs when I was about 16 years old, still remains one of the biggest achievements of my life. This experience taught me that external appearances should never be a barometer to judge a person. My Hogwarts Express journey to Delhi University(Ramjas) was the result of my hard work which helped me in being the school topper and get my Ramjas(read Hogwarts) letter. This was also the time when all of my Commerce friends had taken up Chartered accountancy and considered that a normal Bcom would do no good to anyone. Probably taking the road less travelled was one of the best decisions of my life. Ramjas was the Hogwarts that I chose and probably deserved as well!! A lot of adventures both good and bad came my way, only to make me a better version of myself with each passing day. Ramjas ended with me becoming only half an Auror. But still I joined The Ministry of Magic(read Deloitte) as a junior Auditor. Deloitte made me understand that the world is full of Dementors and evil forces but there is always a ‘Expelliarmus’ spell to fight our way around them. For me probably the most important thing that has kept me going has been the constant support of my family. Love is the only potion that no ‘Avada Kedavara’ can break.Small happinesses like buying a washing machine or an inverter as a family gave me much more happiness than going to an expensive restaurant and getting sloshed.Although, I have been giving competitive exams for over four years now but never lost hope. Coming to SIBM, Pune has given me a chance to live my Hogwarts life again, become a full fledged Auror (read Marketing specialist) and go out in the big bad world again to fight the Voldemorts.
According to me, I am yet to make a lasting impact that I aspire to make and hope to do so in due course of time. My ambitions are more personal rather than being professional with my biggest ambition being, to be always there for my family like they were for me.
Ending with what Dumbeldore would say-“It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.”
