Overcoming Challenges – My Story
Challenges are the part and parcel for every person/team who aspires to make a difference. It applies to the CEO of the organization and an intern too. Networking is key for any successful consultant or the manager of the team, and to network more, you need to take up every challenge you face in life. Unfortunately, the one thing I missed out, was taking newer challenges until my high school. I missed participating in sports, cultural events which would have given me an ample number of friends.
I realized that this is not right and let’s try changing them from under graduation. Hence, I participated in most of the opportunities I received (it’s no longer a challenge). I felt one cannot excel in all the opportunities in which he/she involves, it is okay to lose a few but make sure we can give our utmost effort.
A few instances are, taking a position of responsibility during my under-graduation, for the Rotaract Club as a Director and a much demanding position of the “Placement Coordinator” of my class. It can be even as simple as participation in a Mechanical Quiz, being an Electrical Engineer, and securing the runners up spot.
I continued the same, during my tenure at Publicis Sapient, by volunteering to mentor a fellow colleague, received an appreciation from the leadership for the same. In all these additional roles I took up, I never took them for granted, I made sure I do my homework in the previous night to be on top of the responsibility I assume. As my career progresses, the opportunities need the right discipline to enact. To enhance my learning, now I have enrolled myself in a full-time MBA International Business program at the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, prepared and buckled up for the opportunities that await.
