Since I have been given a chance to tell about how I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far, so I would take the honour and quote a story from my life.
After the completion of my 10th standard, I took up biology over computer science as an elective in my 11th standard after much brainstorming. After 2 years I joined the very conventional career path of Engineering where I took Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering as my branch. Despite the fact that Biology elective helped me achieve a decent percentage and I gained knowledge on the subject, it was of no use in Engineering. I had some of the programming languages in my syllabus during the 1st and 2nd year of my graduation. It was difficult on my part to cope up with the fast paced theory and practical classes of programming languages. But people who had opted for Computer science in their 12th were at ease. I toiled and anyway came up with decent grades in those subjects. But after 3 years, I was placed in Tata Consultancy Services through our campus recruitment drive. After joining TCS, I faced problems in my initial training days but after some days I got into the sync. I took guidance from my fellow mates and my training mentor of TCS. I completed the training program successfully in Java technology. After 2 months of training period, I wanted to overcome the challenge further and got into a development project intentionally and learnt more on the technology. I did many internal certifications, took guidance and help from seniors and colleagues of my team. I took up the initiatives to solve issues myself. Ultimately with the passage of time I overcame this challenge of not having preconceived knowledge on programming languages.
Moreover, I have translated this “weakness” of mine as one of the “strengths” in the present time by coping with the need of the hour efficiently and effectively.
