How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions so far in life?_Goa Institute Of Management
“The golden rule that I think of is the fact that you must follow your passion and do something that is close to your heart.” – Kumar Mangalam Birla
Every human being has a passion, a kick of joy that drives him or her through life. There is one such thing that everyone owns which he or she would never give up on, no matter what is the situation. Even I do own up something that I would never trade off with anything in my life. The thing which instils a sense of ecstasy within my body and soul is Gymming, precisely: Powerlifting. This is one hobby that I have acquired in the recent past and is very close to my heart. The journey to powerlifting began with my quest for losing weight as I was extremely overweight since adolescence. This weight not only affected my physical outlook but also hampered my health in a serious way. And as if this was not enough, I was also subjected to public jokes and mockery. I was humiliated for 10 years of my life with names such as couch potato and what not. One fine day I made a pact with myself and decided to never let me down. I pulled up my socks, tightened up my laces and never looked back thereon. So when I started with the fitness regime , even very basic exercises seemed strenuous to me. But with consistency and with the will to achieve, I eventually gained a lot of strength and will power.
Powerlifting is an exercise which requires immense physical as well as mental efforts. It demands great discipline and a very strict diet. Through this activity, I have acquired the habit of self-motivation and the quality of never giving up on anything, no matter how hard it seems to be. I also aim to help people who face issues on physical health and fitness and I believe that I have already walked a few steps into this aim by helping people around me in their journey to fitness. This hobby has been a great teacher in my life. It reminds me that I have to constantly push myself and most importantly, to believe in myself. This is how I overcame one of the biggest challenges of my life and I am so happy about the getaways I got with it.
