“Mere pass ghar hai, makaan hai, gaadi hai! Tumhare pass kya hai?
Mere pass Aditya Birla Group hai! ”
Coming from a small community of Maheshwaris, the son of Seth Shobharam, Seth Shiv Narayana took his chances and stepped out of Pilani. He ventured into cotton trading and laid the foundation stone for the company which we now know as Aditya Birla Group. Today, with operations across 35 countries, and revenues of US$44.3 billion, the Group is a leading player in aluminium, cement manufacturing, viscose staple fibre, carbon black, chemicals, copper, financial services, telecom, branded apparels, fertilisers, viscose staple yarn and insulators. Aditya Birla Group, also known as ABG, is a part of our day-to-day lives and we do not even realise that. In my life, ABG is a part of some great memories. When I recall my childhood, I remember going to school, playing with my friends, climbing trees and what not. When I analyse now, I see so many things related to the Aditya Birla Group that I didn’t realised then. During school, the best part of the whole day was the lunch time. Best time! All the friends used to sit together and eat their lunch. Sometimes we used to steal other’s food, but that is a different story. But the first thing that we used to do was to unwrap our breads from the foil. That is the time, where ABG enters. And like a ritual, everyday post lunch, we used to collect all the foils together and used to make a ball with it, which we used to play cricket or to tease others. That time no one noticed from where the foil came, which company provided us. We were kids after all. As I grew up, came the most exciting age of my life, TEENAGE. Now my priorities shifted to social media, I started thinking that I must know what’s going on around me. And for that I needed an internet connection. After so many requests to my parents, an internet dongle comes at my home. The dongle we got was inspired by the Abhishek Bachchan’s advertisement, ‘Talk and walk, walk and talk’. So yes, we got an IDEA internet dongle and I must say I was on cloud nine! I mean I was so amused to see that ‘Oh my god! Facebook can work so fast!!’ ABG again enters my life through Idea.
