I was exposed to the company ‘Aditya Birla Group’ when I was a 13 year old girl and had first gone to the mall newly opened in a tier-2 city, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. I was fascinated to buy the ‘forever 21’ branded dress from the retail chain of Aditya Birla Group – Pantaloons. Ever since then, my thirst for fashion and good dresses has been catered by Pantaloons. It has always created memories to shop in Pantaloons with my mom and today when I was asked to write about Aditya Birla group, Pantaloons was the brand I got reminded of at the first instinct. Thinking back, another brand under the company, ‘More’ which was a supermarket and grocery retail venture of Aditya Birla Group brings me back memories of grocery shopping with my mom on the weekends. In fact, ‘More’ was the first supermarket opened in our locality 8 to 10 years back. Later, due to sustainability issues, it was taken down in our locality, but since it was a retail chain by ‘Aditya Birla Group’, it will always be remembered. A company which was started in 1857 and is a key player in the country is known for its Corporate Social Responsibilities which in a way developed India after Independence. It was enthralling to read about the CSR activities being carried out by the company including in the sphere of education, Aditya Bal Vidyamandir and girl child education initiatives, which has created an impact in the society. Other activities being in the sphere of health care, sustainable livelihood, infrastructure development and social change. Reading about these CSR activities for the development of our country and the success story of the company for nearly 2 centuries now, I have naturally become a fan of the Aditya Birla Group.
