A Decade Long Relationship With A SIM Card, IIM Raipur
Aditya Birla Group is one of the names which everyone will come across most commonly in their lives. Being a conglomerate, founded back in 1857, most of the brands of Aditya Birla Group will be part of our lives by now. The interesting thing is most of us was not even aware of Aditya Birla Group as a brand while starting using its products. I don’t even remember the first time when I used a product or service provided by ABG. And I don’t even remember what the first product of ABG I used. But when I started noticing about the brands and all, I realized that ABG is one of the most used brands in my life. Let me talk about one of the products which are literally part of my life for more than a decade. Yes, I am talking about Idea Cellular. Yes, you heard it right. A millennial using a single sim card for more than a decade, that too in both pre and post-Jio era. I started using Idea from 2007, the time when most of the middle-class people started using mobile phones. The one main reason for me to choose Idea was the voice call and SMS plan offered by them. To increase the market share, they came up with plans like unlimited free calls between two idea connections. Another reason for most of the people to choose Idea was the network coverage available at all places. I’ve never seen a person crying for not getting proper network coverage for an idea connection. With all these attractive features and along with the merger with Vodafone, Idea Cellular has now 31% market share in India making it the largest mobile telecommunications network in India and the third largest mobile telecommunications network in the world.

How A Small Leader Was Made?, IIM Raipur
Being an engineer by profession, it was too obvious for me to end up my career as a software engineer, which as most of the engineering graduates does, was the only option for me. I joined an IT firm right after completing my graduation. I find it very difficult to learn new concepts of software engineering, since I did my graduation in Electrical Engineering. And soon after the completion of my training, I was allocated to the design and configuration team of the customer account module of our core product team. I had a lot of new things to learn in that team since they were working on the new version of the product. But, unfortunately most of the seniors either left the organization or changed their team ad hence I became the only resource who was responsible for the configuration of the module. And at the same point of time, one of our major clients came up with a new requirement which included an enhancement of the customer account module. Since I was alone in the team for this, I got a mentee, who was one-year junior to me. And I was the most junior employee who got assigned a mentee in the organisation. I was able to train him for the enhancement activities and was also able to work with him so that I could design, configure and deliver the enhancement to the client with minimal bugs within the deadline. I found myself as a quick learner, hard worker and more importantly a good leader so that I could mentor one of my colleagues and help him learn a lot of things. This incident boosted my self confidence and this was one of the major reasons which helped me mentally during the CAT exams and eventually helping in clearing them and finally getting selected in one of the best Business Schools in the country.
