My father is a dreamer who has come to the city of Hyderabad to fulfil his dreams. He has decided to earn enough so that we don't suffer the way he did in his life. Even though my father studied law he started a small business which gradually grew up. As a child, I have spent my childhood in luxury and richness but time changes everything, my parents had a loss in their business and we were down to the point where my father started. I couldn't understand anything happening around, the shift from an own house to a rented one, international school to a state board school. By the time I could understand we have come far a long way, knowing that I couldn't live that life anymore. I always fancied about wearing branded clothes but couldn't afford them. Even though we were poor, I didn't let anyone know about it and behaved as if I'm from a well-settled family. During my 12th I have seen many of my friends wearing branded clothes to the classes which I always dreamed of. One such brand that got my attention was Allen Solly. I have asked my father to get me an Allen Solly suit for my graduation but he couldn't arrange it in time. Eventually, I have decided to pursue M.B.A, gave every other management exam and finally got into the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Delhi. A place where I can fulfil my dreams and build my future. The one thing every Business school needs is a formal suit and to my surprise, my father got me an Allen Solly suit. With my head held high, I have entered IIFT Delhi wearing an Allen Solly suit, which has been my dream for the past 7 years.
Challenges test one's mettle and confidence. They help the individual to become stronger and ready for worse situations. But it's also necessary to remain positive when it hits you hard.
One such challenge I faced in my life was the fear of public speaking. I always admired people who had dared to speak on stage on spot but couldn't try it due to my fear. Adding to that, I'm an introvert who doesn't talk much and people misunderstood me for arrogance. Whenever there's an opportunity to speak in front of people, I would make up my mind to go and speak but didn't have the courage to get up from my seat. Years passed but my fear of public speaking didn't change. During graduation, I started watching a lot of short films which led my interest in story writing. I have written a few but when someone asks me to narrate, I would simply pass on the copy of the story. Very few likes to read and the rest prefer to listen, this has given me an idea to narrate my story through the story telling. But the fear of public speaking was pulling me from doing so. Bottled up all my courage and enrolled for a storytelling session in a nearby cafe, the very first narration of mine received a huge round of applause despite stumbling. This gave me a positive boost and from then on I focused on my narration rather than the fear of people watching me, which helped me to overcome my fear easily.
