As we all know that the universal phrase - ‘First impression is the last impression’ is used too frequently in our daily lives, this is something that is strictly followed in one of the industries I had previously worked in i.e. consulting, as this sector requires direct interaction with client personnel and one needs to be properly dressed no matter what part of the year or what time of the day it is. Every employee acts as a face for its organization and is a guardian of the reputation and brand value that has been developed over years. Such requirements and expectations require wearing a clothing that is not only comfortable, durable but also fashionable at the same time. Since clothing is also something that drives me crazy, I am too selective about the brands I carry, especially for formal attire. There is an array of brands that I prefer, be it Louis Philippe, Van Heusen, Allen Solly or Peter England and my wardrobe is full of the latest collections that are introduced by these brands. They not only look stylish but also make me feel fresh and a lot more confident every time. When I chose to pursue my Masters, the importance of professional wear was highlighted yet again day in and day out during our various corporate interactions and I was glad to carry all the aforesaid clothes I had previously mentioned because of their cloth durability and styles that are evergreen and don’t wear out in years together. There is a fresh corporate phase that awaits me when I step out of my college. Since my childhood I have seen my mother ironing Peter England shirts that belonged to my father and she taught me the importance of investing on good clothing brands. This is exactly what I have been doing and will continue to do with the likes of Louis Phillippe, Van Heusen and Allen Solly.
Further, I belong to a family that has always laid emphasis on academics while taking part in Extra-Curricular activities at the same time. There was no getting away as and when I used to score less in any subject and I was always taught the importance of hard work and being focussed on what I do. This was also reflected in my professional front as it required me to extend long hours on various occasions. Since I got campus placement in a Consulting role, I was supposed to travel out station for long durations ranging from weeks to months altogether. As and when any assignment used to get over, I was assigned a different project that required me to travel again and I was not used to staying away from home for such long durations at a stretch being born and brought up in Delhi. All my schooling as well as under-graduation was done staying at home and never had a chance to become self-dependent as I was also the pampered one being the only child. Deep down my mind, I knew it was time to accelerate my career growth trajectory by pursuing higher studies post gaining work experience but year-long projects and the expectations of my team leads did not give me time to focus on what now I actually wanted to do. The ability to adapt myself to ever changing projects and completing all deliverables within stringent timelines helped me come out of my comfort zone and helped me explore my true potential. The art of managing time for studies along with continuous travelling for work, client meetings, stringent deliverable deadlines was something I developed over a period of time and with time I overcame this challenging situation. Besides working and not compromising on any aspect at the professional front, I somehow managed to secure decent grades in entrance examinations and got admission in IMI Delhi. This was certainly one phase or experience that motivates me to never quit and stay focussed on the ambitions that one aspires for.
