Part A: Why is Aditya Birla Group Big in My Life? Spread over 34 countries around the globe, Aditya Birla Group has become a big part of my life. From being the world’s second-largest telecom operator, connecting and enabling thousands of people a day to being India’s largest cement manufacturer, building our homes to constructing highways to get there as well, Aditya Birla Group has become omnipresent in my life. Every cosmopolitan is recognized by a famous landmark that defines the skyscape of the city. Just like the way Sydney reminds us of its world-famous Opera house and Dubai of Burj Khalifa, back home, Mumbai is synonymous with the Bandra-Worli Sea Link. This iconic civil engineering marvel was designed to connect the main city to its western suburbs, i.e Bandra to Worli. 0.1 Million mt of Ultra Tech Cement (Aditya Birla Group) went into the construction of Mumbai’s Bandra Worli Sea Link thereby contributing towards connecting India better. I was unknown of the fact that India’s largest cement manufacturer has helped in building this technological marvel which not only connects physical locations of Mumbai but also keeps the moments and memories that live in my heart burning. Like every Mumbaikar, it has become a pride for me, something that I can boast of in front of my friends belonging to other parts of India. For me, Bandra-Worli Sealink is a symbol of Strength as it has successfully stayed its ground since 2009 and has allowed millions of people to pass over it. Thus Aditya Birla Group has confined to its values of reaching out to millions and adding purpose to the lives of their customers.
Part B: How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far? Everyone has faced challenges at some point in their lives. To challenge yourself, you need to believe in yourself and push yourself until the very end. When you challenge yourself, you learn new things about yourself, the boundaries which you considered your limits were actually not your boundaries until you tried breaking them off. A similar incident happened in my life as well. Being a hydrophobic girl during my childhood, I always stayed away from water. Until one day during my summer vacation, I decided that I wanted to learn how to swim. On my first day, gathering all my determination, courage and will power, I went to the swimming pool and as soon as I entered it, my leg slipped and I started drowning. This incident broke me from inside and I became even more scared of water. It was my mother who believed in me and supported me during those trying times, and her constant encouragement made me believe that if I tried, I too can overcome my fear of water. Slowly and steadily I started learning swimming. At first I was very reluctant and refrained from going into the pool for days but in the end, I successfully learned how to swim. I gained expertise in swimming to such an extent that I qualified for Regionals and also during my swimming camp I won the award for being the most “Graceful Swimmer”. Someone has rightly said that strength doesn’t come from what you can do. It comes from overcoming the things that you once thought you couldn’t. And I couldn’t agree more considering my first-hand experience in the same.
