It is safe to say that Aditya Birla group has hands in almost every field of life. If I were its
competitor, I would be really pissed but I’d still secretly go grab a dress from Forever 21. Forever
21 has actually changed my life. A little too much? Nope, not all. I’ll tell how..
So, when I first joined my school, I was completely lost and alone. People didn’t want to talk to a
girl who wasn’t fashionable. Day by day, I started losing confidence and started hating myself.
My parents could sense something was going on but they couldn’t figure out what it was. I was
afraid of public speaking for the same reason. Years passed by and when we were in class 9, we
had to conduct a farewell party for our 10th class seniors. We all had to escort one senior each
and the senior I was alloted was every girl’s crush. I freaked out. I wanted to just leave
everything and run away. And when I calmed down, I asked my neighbour for help. Without
hesitating, she gave me two beautiful dresses and asked me to choose one for the party. One of
them was from Forever 21 and that’s when I first got introduced to it. As soon as I saw it, I fell in
love. Maybe THIS is called love at first sight. It was a beautiful LBD. And on the day of farewell, I
was excited out of bounds. So many people complimented me for my dress AND I had a
wonderful lunch with my senior. What a day! I was thankful I didn’t run away.
Things had changed after that. I had become the class monitor by having “majority number of
votes”. I KNOW!! And after becoming the class monitor, I worked on my public speaking skills
and I’ve never felt more confident. And when we had our farewell in Class 10, I bought my first
dress from Forever 21. A red gown. And guess what? I’ve won the “Best Dressed” award. That
irony though…
So, from a silent, introverted (at least I thought so) person, I transformed into this open and
people loving person I am today. This story was a start to this transformation. A start that I
needed. So was Aditya Birla Group big in my life? You tell me.
How did I get here?
The question ‘What after engineering, beta?’ has really started to scare me. I was in my final year
of engineering and all my friends have already made up their minds about the kind of jobs they
wanted. I wanted to do an MBA, so I thought I should start preparing while I start my final year
project. Now, the real problem arises. Sports competitions. It was a National level Inter college
competition we have every year and my college team wanted me to practice my sport every
evening. But then, I had too many things on my plate and I was stressing out. I could opt out of
sports but I know that I’ll regret that decision my whole life. And it could also be the last time I’d
ever represent my college. I could neither opt out on my final project nor my MBA plans. So, I
took a day off college, calmed down, slept for two hours and when I woke up, I made a 5 month
rigid plan- Waking up at 3am, MBA prep till 8am, Project till 12:30pm, MBA prep till 5:30pm,
sports till 7:30, revising what I read that day and sleeping by 9pm. It was very tiring in the
beginning, but when I did it day after day, it became a habit and I loved following it. The result? I
finished my project work a week before the deadline, I won the best player award in the sports
competition and I earned a seat in one of the most reputed B schools of India. Was it worth the
5 month pressure? Hell, yes!
