It was the first time for me in Mumbai, landing there with every sort of expectations and of course the fear of getting through this humongous city. That is where the planning efficiency of the Mahindra Group really came into play. Every detail, starting from our stay for the entire internship period at Mahindra Park to the POCs for all our needs were meticulously planned which made my whole arrival and checking-in very smooth. We were even greeted with a box of Ferrero Rochers (my favourite)! Our reporting for the induction was at the landmark Mahindra Towers at Worli. When I took the assigned seat my eyes first rested upon the visiting cards the group had printed for us. My first reaction was why the group would go all this way taking these efforts printing them, but a week into the project I am realising that how useful they are in my field visits. Such is the micro-level of details that are being taken care of by the Mahindra Group to assist us in every way possible so that we can divert all our focus on our projects and add value to the organization. I was really impressed with the Samsonite bag back that was provided - a very handy one for office and field visits. Now coming to the series of talks by the group titans during our induction, we were introduced to every vertical of the business by the respective business heads, I was able to get a very good understanding of the federation and also a chance to interact with the esteemed business leaders. I was really appreciative of the efforts taken by the HR group with respect to arranging the talks with the business leaders. Every story about all the business leaders were truly inspiring to reach sky high without any safety net. At the end of the talks, we also had fun and games and team building activities organized by the HR group which really helped to develop the bonding with my fellow interns. Keeping all this aside, I want to talk about the best part of the whole induction program. I have always seen Shri. Anand Mahindra on world famous new forums like the Bloomberg, CNBC and NDTV. We even had a case study about him in our first year at IIM Indore about how he spearheaded the iconic Scorpio project as soon as he returned to the group from the Harvard Business School. But when I got to know in the schedule that we were about to meet Shri. Anand Mahindra, I was just ecstatic. It was really an Indian dream coming true. We were taken to the Gateway house and had an hour-long interaction with the charismatic Shri. Anand Mahindra. The temperament and the knowledge of the business titan blew all of us away. That day, it really struck us all that even as interns, we were being given exposure to the business world like interacting with the Mahindra Group Chairman, and it is all a part of a macro plan the Mahindra Group has charted for us to excel in our respective businesses. Our induction program ended with a design thinking workshop which was conducted by an esteemed faculty from SPJIMR. The workshop was really helpful in formulating an approach and charting a plan to handle the project in a way that would yield the maximum benefit to all the stakeholders. We also had a one-day interaction with our project guides and buddies. It was useful in getting acquainted with them and also getting a brief overview of the project. One the whole the entire experience was a memorable one. I have got exposure to things here which would be a distant dream to many. I have also realized that people’s management is very important in a federation like Mahindra, I got this learning from the way they have taken care of us and the way they encourage decision making from us and put us on a fast track growth career even during our internship. I am extremely delighted and thrilled to be a part of the Mahindra Group and looking forward to the wonderful things that the group is going to make happen in the next two months.
