HRM and LR at TISS, is a flagship course for students who wish to pursue their careers in the HR domain. The course is not only known for its pedagogy and notable alumni but also the unique way of collaborating fieldwork with course work which helps to nullify the difference in between the theory and its industrial application by emphasising on practical learning. It is considered as one of the top most colleges in India to pursue Human resources. The placements are just a byproduct of the exposure and learning inculcated in the tenure of two years. Test pattern and syllabus: The entire test is scheduled for 100 minutes and the marks distribution is as follows: General Knowledge: 40 English proficiency: 30 Maths and Logical reasoning: 30 Syllabus: https://www.tiss.edu/uploads/files/TISS_NET_Exam_Structure_and_Tentative_Topic_List-website_tGFQHto.pdf GK preparation tips by analysing the previous trends: GK is the most important part of this exam as the maximum weightage is dedicated to this part. As the cutoffs are really high, it is very important to ace this section and be thorough with the gk part. GK can be divided into two parts: An advice to serious aspirants is to start their preparation with basics and therefore it is advisable for them to go through the NCERT text books. They are the best source to prepare for history, geography and economics which are easily available on the internet. After completely going through it, they can go through Lucent GK which would act as a good revision material and proliferate thereby helping them ace the exam. Current Affairs: For current affairs, students are advised to regularly go through newspapers, preferably Economic times. As per the past trends, the checklist of most important areas that should be covered by a student are as follows,
  1. Social issues
2. Recent awards and appointments 3. Schemes issued by the government 4. Recent developments in Banking and Indian Economy. 5. Summits and conferences 6. Recent MOUs AND AGREEMENTS 7. Web portals and apps 8. Recent obituaries 7. Recent sports events and facts about games 9. Committees and organisational reports. 10. Important national and international days 11. United Nation organisation. 12. Monuments and rivers of India. 13. Various forms of dances in India 14. Books and authors 15. Indian art and architecture. 16. List of first's in India, source : http://www.gkduniya.com/first%20in%20India 17. Various organs and their functions and diseases. Tips to bolster speed and accuracy:
  1. Practice, practice and practice: You could use R.S Agarwal or any basic book for quantitative aptitude. This part is generally easy but the only way to ace it is to build speed and accuracy which again comes from practice.
2. Be thorough with formulas, learn tables till 30, squares and cubes of first 20 numbers and percentage conversions for various fractions which would help students to increase their speed. 3. Give as many tests as possible and analyse them in depth, 4. Make google docs or short notes for GK and important formulas 5. Use yearly news digests to revise the current affairs before the exams. And Remember that there is no shortcut to success. ALL THE BEST     ------------------- About the Author: A firm believer of the saying "Live and let live".
