Aditya Birla has touched so many lives and it has touched my life in so many ways that I have lost the count to both. For my family Aditya Birla was always the top of mind recall when it came to clothes or construction or investment options. The ease of availability of the outlets, professional staff behaviour and host of collection makes a customer a loyal customer in just one go. More than a buyer seller relationship I have a special place in my life for Aditya Birla’s retail store. Its more like all instances that made a mark in my life also had some element that associated me to an ABG store – be it buying the blue Peter England shirt a night before my job interview, delighting my sisters with the newest Allen Solly collection or decorating my house with the exclusive range of home care items in Pantaloons. Seeing the milestones they have achieved gives me a sense of delight as well – when Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail was awarded the prestigious Social Impact Award instituted by Indian Chamber of Commerce for Empowering rural population, I knew they are doing a lot more than just focusing on the bottom line, they were creating an everlasting impact in the lives of people.
As a person I have always believed in giving my best for any task that I take up and driving it to completion. When I joined as a software engineer in TCS after my engineering, the work was challenging and I was assigned a project where I could both learn and show my leadership skills. I took up the task with full enthusiasm and gave my 100% however I was facing a biggest challenge – I was not able to put forth my work properly or rather my words could not do justice to the amount of hard work I was putting in, as a result my boss could not get a sense of the work I was doing. It continued for a couple of months and I kept thinking that maybe the ends would justify the means and once he sees the results he will understand how much efforts I put into this. However since we were working as a group even when the results were out there, it looked more as a group effort and the fact that I had gone out of the way to work for it was not known to anyone. Though I was happy on completing the project I felt my performance was perceived as mediocre. After pondering for a while, I realised that the best solution is to have a direct conversation with my boss and talk my heart out. I did it and I communicated with clarity every work that I had done. Soon he started taking note of my work and appreciated it and I realised that communication can indeed solve a lot of problems
