Why Aditya Birla Group is big in your life?
Hailing from a small town, almost a decade back, we were not yet exposed to the culture of being “branded” and hence, were often limited to the local clothing brands we had around.
I was 11 years old when we moved to Delhi. We had only heard about the hustling and bustling of the metro cities, but when I stood in the crowd, I realized that the hype was real and the atmosphere was overwhelming. This was the year when I first visited a mall, and the first showroom my family walked into was Louis Philippe, the name looked fancy to us. Being a father’s little girl, I shouted from one end of the showroom, pointing at a blue shirt “Papa! I will gift you this shirt when I will have my own money!”.
10 years later, in 2016, I gifted my dad a shirt from Louis Philippe with my first salary. It was not the same shirt nor the same shade of blue, but I had the same feeling I had as a little girl while I was walking towards the showroom to buy that shirt. To many, it would be just a piece of cloth wrapped around in a shiny gift paper, but to me, it reflected my hard work and commitment, and to my father, a proud moment which made him realize that his little girl is growing up so fast. The moments of joy and laughter that I shared with my father reminiscing the good old days were priceless and it all started with Aditya Birla Group’s Louis Philippe. Unknowingly, Aditya Birla Group had been a part of my journey all along, leading up to this major day of my life.
How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far?
"Growth is never by mere chance; it is the result of forces working together." are the words I have always lived by.
I had long learned that hard work and perseverance are the main pillars that one should hold on to in order to achieve excellence and success. This has kept me going, even during the times when I had hit rock bottom. To give a little background, this phase of my life started when I joined my first company as an intern.
I had finally gotten into the company I had been long preparing for, under the profile of Quality Consultant and it was a dream come true for me. But the joy didn’t last long because my whole world came crashing down when on my first day, I was told that I had been hired for a role I wasn’t ready for – automation developer. Was I discouraged? Yes. Did I give up? No.
I worked for 12 hours and sometimes even more, and was still struggling to cope up with the new responsibilities while other interns enjoyed their time. Being a part of the core functional team, the work load and expectations both were very high. Training sessions, deadlines, presentations, meetings, code reviews, etc were all bombarding at the same time and many a times it felt like everything was going out of my hands, but I kept pushing myself and continued to do my work diligently. The dates for full converts selection were coming closer and the stress level had crossed all bars. Finally, the results were out and only 3 out of 10 interns were given an early convert, and I was one of them. There were times when I thought I wouldn’t be able to make it and self-doubted myself a zillion times, but 2 words made all the difference for me - “carpe diem”.
