Part A
Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life?
To start with, I just love Allen Solly. The day my sis took me to a shop she said let’s buy here. I told her what’s Allen Solly. I never bought there and did not know anything about it. She said to me ‘It’s Allen Solly!’ with an exclamation that suggested everything. Ever since, the crafted shirting of the brand has filled my wardrobe. How they manage to get everything right about clothing. Experience I guess. It’s so comfortable and goes well with my lifelong choice of loose clothing, freedom and openness.
Aditya Birla was where I bought my sis my first memorable gift from a Kurta from Pantaloons. She cherishes it as much as I do. It’s always a fun walk through the colorful showroom of Pantaloons and be stupefied by the vibrant Indian colors that signify life.
The time as kids when it kept our food hot during picnics and school lunches yes, Freshwrapp and I realized it now was another Aditya Birla product we have known for ages. PeterEngland is when I really enjoyed wearing formal clothing.
I always admired the Aditya Birla Scholarship that identifies leaders in leading institutions.
I remember spending a night reading through Birla wiki page, which has been an active support in the Indian Independence movement. The values that Birlas identified with have been a focus of my understanding of life.
Part B
How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far?
My greatest achievement would be reaching the Indian Institute of Management. I always knew I wanted to be the next Einstein, the next Newton. Everyone in life feels they are unique and amazing just as I did. And my next idea was at Scientist but I struggled with research, it didn’t make sense. Then, someone challenged me at College saying why don’t you try grabbing a seat at IIM, it’s not that easy. I have been trying through tough times through repeated failures ever since. My first attempt was a disaster, I felt really annoyed. The idea of setting up a business started to drive me ever since my friend put up this status about how everyone is working for somebody else and not into their own business.
Watching ‘The Social Network’ and ‘Steve Jobs’ have further fueled my passion and how exciting were the stories of becoming rich and quick. That’s what they say in the Startup world. “Move fast and Break things”. I read The Magic Of Thinking Big & watched SRK’s Raees which drew me to think towards Entrepreneurship. I knew if I had good startup idea and an IIM degree I could really make it big.
Reading the stories of Flipkart inspired me to pursue my ambition.
As I walk through the doors of IIM the burden of the taking the country as envisaged by Dr Kalam ‘Vision 2020’ inspires me. I look forward to a day we bring a change to this world. That is what drives me. It’s terrifying to see people in our own country living in poverty. I wish to bring a change in their lives. I mean I hope I do. That’s what I want to work for in my life.
My life mantra that helps me overcome all challenges:
‘Unconditional Love for everyone around you’, ‘Being Gracious and trying to be humble’, Unprovoked by my fellow beings. I would like to quote MS Dhoni here “Performance is not guaranteed but effort is.”
When the times are bad you got to stick it out cause in Hope I do believe and we must all do too.
