“Make each day count by setting specific goals to succeed, then putting forth every effort to exceed your own expectations”

I think the above quote by Les Brown, an American motivational speaker, quite aptly sums up my learnings and takeaways from the 4-week induction program at Capgemini E.L.I.T.E. With a few weeks before the onboarding of the next batch of E.L.I.T.E. trainees, I started to reflect on my experiences during the onboarding period. The one-month induction program really was a stepping stone into the corporate life. Each day started by setting expectations, not limited to the tools / techniques to be learnt, but going beyond into the realm of desired outcomes and business applications. Then, at the end of the day, the team evaluated the extent of fulfillment of each of those expectations. I must admit that back then it seemed like an extra 10-minute job but now it has become a vital part of my day – key lesson being setting daily goals and evaluating daily milestones. Another unique learning from the induction program was the practice of assessing B’s and O’s (Benefits and Opportunities), a feedback mechanism followed diligently at Capgemini. At the end of each day, the on-boarding team would seek B’s and O’s from us, with more emphasis on the O’s, which, to the extent possible, were implemented in the following days of the induction. Interestingly, the concept of B’s and O’s was not just restricted to the sessions but extended to us, wherein, the trainees as a part of team exercises gave feedback to one another. This helped us realize our areas of improvement and bond as a truly cohesive unit. The next crucial learning for me was understanding the importance of networking. We not only had a session on ‘Networking with Intent’, but also, on multiple occasions, had the opportunity to interact with some of the key leaders of the company including the Group Chief Operating Officers, Chief Talent Officer and Chief Technology & Innovation Officer. After having spent ~10 months in this organization, I can confidently vouch that networking with the right people at the right time in Capgemini can open doors to a plethora of opportunities for anyone. To sum up, although the induction programme ended long back, the learnings have stayed with me and continue to guide me in all my endeavours. #Capgemini_ELITE #AceYourCareer #LoveYourCareer
