I have been teaching since 35+ years in the field of management as a professor and engaged in Strategy, Marketing, Operations, HR and Finance. I have been teaching in top business schools in the world and a visiting professor too. I am a Doctorate in Management, University of Cambridge.
Recently, I witnessed one incident of my life while I was in India as a visiting professor, invited by one of the well known b-school as a Guest Speaker other than this, as it was requested by b-school's management body to present at admission counselling sessions, during the sessions our admission counselling team encountered with one student his name was Suraj Chavare (without coaching!) who scored 99.93 percentile in CAT, GMAT Score 727 and TOEFL iBT Score 117. We appreciated his dedication and hard work towards CAT, GMAT and TOEFL iBT. He received admission offers from one of the top rank b-schools in India and top rank b- schools from abroad as well.
But here comes the turning point - a student, Suraj Chavare, who received admission offers, rejected offers of the top rank b-schools in India and top rank b-schools of abroad too! It was such a big shock for our admission counselling team. After some days, I contacted him personally to find why he rejected a dream offer? Why is he not interested in joining India's top b-schools and not even global top rank b-schools? I fixed a meeting with him. It was really best conversation of my life and the longest conversation of life too! Finally, I came to know why he rejected domestic and international management b-schools offers. He said,
"I appeared for the exam to test myself where I can stand in the Global World, there is no race between me and others. It's all about intelligence, to check my own ability, to acquire and know how I can apply knowledge and skills more efficiently and effectively in my own way. I do believe in basic needs and love to be pure simple human being. I am not a money oriented person at all. I am a complete spiritual person. My values and principles are different, of course, it is not based on money and fame! I never care at all what people think about me it's not my business!" he added.
He has designed CAT, CLAT and TOEFL iBT entrance study preparation courses of some renowned private classes besides, he has been solved disputes between TATA ASAL Pvt Ltd (TACO GROUP) and their worker's union as an arbitrator/domestic inquiry officer. He is an expert on industrial relations and an ingenious in Economics, Law and Business Administration. Overall, I must say he is one of them who does not really care anything including success, money, fame, benefits etc. when it comes to his own values and principles!
