I was born and brought up in a happy, lower-middle-class family in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. I have always been a fun loving yet a mischievous kid. I still remember the episodes where I had had left-and-right for breaking my Mom’s only glass set. I remember the sacrifices my Mother has made for me, be it missing on the family functions or giving up on her aspiration of being a teacher. She couldn’t be a teacher but she is definitely the greatest guru! Her teachings and life lessons has helped me become a thinker! And I always try my best to make her feel proud of me.
In 2011, my family went through a difficult phase where we went through a financial crunch. My Mom has always been a hardworking woman and was no less than a chef. I was too young back then to understand the problem but she explained how she would start a Tiffin service to keep up with the expenses of the house. I remember I had just completed my class 12
th then and my friends were joining their colleges.
Thinking about the situation at hand and understanding the financial difficulties that we were facing I decided to take up a job and simultaneously help my Mother with the distribution. I joined a big fabrication store in Waluj as an office boy. With days passing by we started saving enough and with the inflow of money we also started of expanding. Seeing my Mom working hard each day and sacrificing at multiple levels I had decided to give her a beautiful wrist watch. After all a woman who keeps up with time deserves it the most. I remember it was my 11
th payment which I had received on 7
th February 2012. One of our customers was a lady banker who always loved our tiffin and my mom had always complimented the lady’s watch collection. She wanted one for herself but had always giving a second thought to it!
I rushed to the nearest mall and found out a wide variety of Ted Baker collection. I picked up the best suited piece for my mom to make her day. I rushed back home to gift her that piece. She was delighted to see it and was equally worried about the cost incurred! I insisted not to worry and assured her that everything is fine.
The dinner tiffin which the lady banker came to receive noticed the beautiful piece on my mother and her appreciation brought a bright smile on my face. She explained how I worked hard for gifting me this.
The world of branded products had left a huge impact on me. Initially, I was under an impression that there are just couple of brands existing. But this first expense on the most special person gave me the real joy of gifting. I understood how we have different brands for different occasion. My next gift to her is going to be a nice jean from FOREVER 21! She is young at heart and this would be another great gift!
