Big is all about great style. To me, Aditya Birla Group has created a huge impact in my life in terms of defining who I am through the clothes I wear and the style that I choose to carry off. We may not all be blessed with a great figure, but we have been given the freedom to choose what we wear. The fashion world is not set in its ways anymore. It does not believe in making fashionable and stylish clothes only for people with the perfect figure. With plus-size models being used to advertise clothing, it’s the time to not just accept your body the way it is but flaunt it.
Aditya Birla Group, with its fashion brands like Allen Solly, Van Heusen, Forever21, Liva, Louis Philippe, Pantaloons, People, Peter England, Planet Fashion, Ralph Lauren, Simon Carter, Ted Baker, has mastered the art of making clothes for all body shapes and sizes. These brands give help you with the perfect attire for all types of occasions. If I feel the need to make a statement as a powerful woman in the corporate world, my go-to destination would be Allen Solly,
Van Heusen or Louis Philippe. If I want to let myself loose in a party or if I’m going on a date, I can trust Forever21 to provide me with a pretty dress. If I have a casual day out planned with friends and family or even just want to laze around at home while still looking good - People, Pantaloons or the simple yet classy Ralph Lauren polo T-shirts would not disappoint me. Unlike other fashion companies that are biased towards women, Aditya Birla Group ensures that it plays fair by men as well through brands like Ralph Lauren and Simon Carter which ooze class.
The corporate world is a difficult place for a woman to be in as it is a world run by men. Although there have been great strides in terms of making the workplace more women-friendly and a larger number of women taking up managerial and leadership roles, there are very few big companies that have women at such roles. When I joined a CA firm as an articled assistant, at the age of 18, I too faced a similar situation. CA is a field dominated by guys because of the intense pressure and the time and effort required to clear the exams. Women from some parts of India are either reluctant or not allowed to pursue a course which has chances of extending beyond their marriageable age. They would much rather pursue a degree that is ‘safe’ and not as unpredictable as CA.
Being a woman in a man’s world can be intimidating. However, when I walked into a room for a meeting or a discussion with clients, managers and colleagues, most of whom were men, the Allen Solly or Van Heusen business suit I was wearing gave me the confidence to stride in and not feel inferior to men. It made feel like a professional who can take on the challenges at work without worrying about what others would think of me or that I would not be able to face them. Women are still seen as the weaker sex among many in the corporate world who still have an orthodox mindset, but the women in senior positions in my organization proved all of them wrong by taking on equal responsibilities as men while looking extremely suave and powerful. These women are truly an inspiration and I hope I can imbibe their qualities and make a mark in the corporate world the way they have.
After all, fashion is not just about how good you look, but rather how good you feel.
