When I was an infant and my dad returned from work, he could barely resist to
pick me up on his lap without even changing his work suit. I had my first go at a
canned drink probably when I was five. I am riding my family car, with two
pairs of safe and durable wheels, from the age of six. And my home sweet
home back in Kolkata, is standing strong from 1991. When I passed class X, and
I got my first smart phone, the new sim card gave me joy immeasurable.
Throughout these years, from loving to go shopping at Pantaloons just for the
sake of pushing the shopping trolley around, to frowning at the mention of the
word ‘shopping’, I grew.
Now when I sit to draft this article down, the realisation sets upon me. How
like a silent guardian, or like Nolan said “a watchful protector”, Aditya Birla
group of companies has been oriented around me, and has been a pivotal part
of my life. My mother being a fashion enthusiast, spends half of her days at
Pantaloons, regardless of the resistance which my father and I provide. My
uncle in law, Mr Soumabha Bhattacharya who is a Senior General Manager
legal at Essel Mining Industries Limited, has always inspired me to venture on
this adventurous journey called MBA. And his dedication to the organisation,
his achievements as an employee, and the appreciation he received in return
has raised the standards of Aditya Birla in my eyes.
Like for me, Aditya Birla has been in the lives of millions of people across the
globe, to add a little more value to life, a bit more fashion, uncompromising
safety, and many more ways I can’t even fathom. And when people feel out of
place and have no idea of what to do, they have always been there to
motivate,
“Get Idea”.
Challenges and how I overcame them:-
A wise man once said, “Challenges are a permanent state of affairs”. Be it your first walk, first math problem, first board exam, first ball to face in a cricket match or walking up and expressing your feelings to your first crush, they are always a challenge in themselves. But one thing I’ve realised with time is that, as you progress in life, the number of people around you to help you overcome these challenges, starts thinning out. And this process, is of utmost importance. One of the first challenges I came across was at the age of Eight, when I started playing cricket at a distinguished level. Balancing between academics, which is my core priority, and exhaustive cricket training sessions was affecting my efficiency in both the fields. Probably my parents presence by my side throughout this while, and the realisation of how beneficial it is for my personal development, I could look at the bigger picture and endure it till the time I got smoothly oriented to my hectic schedules.A lot of obstacles came along my way after that, and probably the benefits I reaped from my previous hindrances is what kept me driving through all of them. As clichéd as it sounds, there is no alternative to hard work and perseverance. The most recent challenge which I am facing is adjusting to the dynamic and overwhelming life at a B-school. With new concepts and knowledge pouring in from every side, committee responsibilities on a roll, and project work just at a beginning but also an intense stage, the scope of personality enhancement is immense. Bigger the challenge, more the opportunity to learn. And I am confident, that at the end of these two years, I will be ready for the corporate challenges that are going to come my way. #nmimsmumbai #abglpwoomeseason2
