Aditya Birla is a big and widely known conglomerate with a wide range of businesses. It was one of the first conglomerates which put India in the global industrial map right from the year 1857 and it has sustained for more than 150 years due its strong core values – Integrity, Commitment, Passion, Seamlessness and speed. It is into such a wide range of businesses that it is highly improbable that it will not leave a mark in my life.
ABG feels like a part and parcel of my life in many ways as I have been using many of their brands since my childhood such as
Idea Cellular, Pantaloons, Allen Solly, Van Heusen, Louis Phillippe and more. I still remember the day when I got my first mobile phone – a Nokia 1100 – idea was my first choice for the sim card of my mobile. With little pocket money that I got those days’ idea was the most pocket-friendly mobile operator giving us a range of options to choose from depending on our requirement. Idea cellular came up with small recharges like night calling which was my saviour during my school life days. Growing old I went for job interviews and then to MBA – throughout my professional life, Louis Phillippe was my preferred brand for formals and still is. Van Heusen is another clothing brand that I closely relate with – the elegance it brings to my character and attitude is the reason that I love it so much.
I would like to talk about my engineering final project – a project where I was challenged, my idea was challenged and my work ethics were challenged. During my engineering project, when we came up with the initial model of our project our faculty guide did not like it at all and heavily criticized our work, in fact, ridiculed it. He also criticized us for not working as a group. I was pretty confused at first because I thought that our work was good and we have put in enough efforts. But later on I tried to look into the things from his perspective, maybe his expectations from our group were far more which we were not able to meet. There may be other reasons too. I took it as a challenge to myself to improve on our model as well as improve our group dynamics. I took his criticism as constructive feedback and tried to build on that.
I worked
passionately in the project giving full
commitment. Thereafter I realized that yes our project needs much more improvement and there is a lot of things which can be improvised. I talked with my group members and gathered them to work as a team. As a group, we worked with a lot more
integrity and
speed. When we finally presented our project to the faculty members our project was considered as one of the best in the college.
Thank you Aditya Birla Group (ABG) to be part of my life and impacting it in a positive manner always without my active knowledge.
