Part – A
The biggest way in which ABG is connected with me is through one of its most trusted retail chain - Pantaloons. I’ve been born and brought up in the metropolitan of Kolkata. In my city, there’s a huge shopping mall at intervals of almost a couple of kilometres. But the situation was not the same even a decade back. The only experience of shopping from a mall that I used to get was from the huge Pantaloons retail marts spread across the city. The four-storied Pantaloons in Ballygunge near my school used to be my favourite haunt. And needless to mention most of my shopping used to happen from that outlet only.
I am a Green membership cardholder of Pantaloons which entails me to receive rewards whenever I shop in bulk.
Through this official membership, I have my relationship with Pantaloons sorted.
We Bengalees shop the most during Durga Puja, like literally 10 clothes for 5 Puja days – to take care of mornings and evenings of every single day.
Last year before Pujas, Pantaloons came out with the most amazing advertisement ever (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sqn9fAhP4S4) – depicting the emotions that Bengalees face during the festivals and why this phase is considered a very positive one – one which establishes relationships, the connections which are born to last. This thoughtful ad shook us from the core and it was so popular that even songs have been made from these.
All these unique efforts made my ABG makes Pantaloons a brand very close to my heart and till now, whenever I shop, I do it from Pantaloons only, even though the store is quite far away from our campus. Whether it’s a denim from RIG Utility or a jacket from Urban Ranger, for me there has always been one destination – Pantaloons.
PART – B
Challenges are integral parts of our lives in general. There will hardly be anyone who will say that he/she has led a smooth-flowing life till now.
Even my life has not been all flowery. Though fortunately I haven’t had to face financial crisis ever still obstacles were not limited at all. The biggest hindrance I faced till date was regarding the choice of a career. I’ll narrate the incident as it is very relevant considering the current situation I am in.
I have been a science student in my higher secondary level and naturally my parents wanted to get me into Medicine. I was never very fond of science, nor was I proficient in it at all. Board results are more than enough proof of this claim of mine. I didn’t like the scheme of things and the life of a doctor but still I appeared for the entrances and secured a decent AIPMT rank of 6334. The phase after this was the toughest when I was quite certain that I will definitely be forced into a medical school to study a series of courses which hardly ever end.
I literally had to fight with my near and dear ones not to push me into a situation where I don’t picturise myself any way. Finally after weeks of persuasion, they realised the genuineness of my requests and finally gave in. And I was allowed to undertake a graduation course in honours in Economics which changed my life beyond my expectations and I landed up where I am today.
