Part A
Today, Aditya Birla Group is synonymous with an omnipresent pervasiveness. A fortune 500 company, ABG has been conferred with great honours and awards for being the best in its field, and for contributing hugely to the Indian market. The company has clearly demonstrated its potential to change the face of consumer facing businesses, ever since it began operations in 1857. It went on to create footprints in 36 countries globally, and successfully birth brand leaders in 14 industry sectors.
Personally, it’s safe to say that most areas of my life have been punctuated with the presence of ABG and its products/businesses. Whether it comes to shopping from brands like Louis Philippe, Van Heusen, Allen Solly, or buying groceries from More, or purchasing insurance from Birla Sun Life Insurance, or even residing in houses which would have been built using UltraTech Cement; Aditya Birla Group serves every need a customer might ever experience. It is a wonder to behold, how a conglomerate of this size, has managed to be rock solid in its fundamentals, and develop a culture where success does not come in the way of the need to keep learning afresh, to keep experimenting. The organisation goes beyond profitability alone; it promotes philanthropy and goes by the vision of creating a ‘Sustainability Livelihood’. It also stresses on Community development and the overall advancement of the weaker sections of society. In a nutshell, the organization has not emerged as one of the most trusted business houses in India; it has also become a dream company to be employed in.
Part B
Our lives are seldom a linear curve. Every person has a different trajectory and each trajectory is defined by numerous peaks and valleys. My life fortunately has seen more peaks than valleys, but I have faced my fair share of obstacles to reach where I have today. Growing up, I wasn’t subject to a very conducive family environment. Although I was never abused or mistreated, certain events left a deep impact on my childhood and shaped my personality. Keeping my grades up at school, while continuously struggling with matters at home left me drained and exhausted emotionally. As a result, I crept into a shell and became overly introverted. Interactions with close ones reduced to a bare minimum and any kind of limelight or attention terrified me. This behaviour stretched on for quite some time, till I reached high school. There, I found solace in performing arts- singing, dancing and theatre. I began expressing more and shedding my past traumas by divulging into my creative side and investing greatly into my mental peace.
Once in college, and out of my home; I changed into a completely different person. Social settings didn’t scare me anymore; I stopped avoiding interactions with people and started embracing them. It was then that I realised that I wanted to make a career out of understanding and managing people. I pride myself on having a great sense of empathy, and I believe that everybody should find an outlet to express their deepest emotions. I found mine quite early in life and consequently I want to ensure that others do as well. My challenges have only made my ambitions more concrete and tangible. Learning how to let go of the past and be ready for the opportunities of the future has been my biggest accomplishment in these 21 years of existence. I sincerely hope that my journey forward continues to inspire me and teach me to take challenges in my stride and never lose of sight of the prize - my happiness.
