Aditya Birla Group: the name resonates so many times in our daily life and the way it is a part of our lives is huge, unbeknownst to us sometimes. Be it the roads that we walk on or the buildings we reside in, the quality of Ultra Tech Cement is undoubtedly trusted by all in the industry and it is no surprise that it is India’s largest cement manufacturer in the country. The clothes and brands that we love to flaunt are housed at Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail and the collection includes the best brands from over the world like Allen Solly, Van Heusen Forever 21, Louis Philippe to name a few.  From a financial services provider to the biggest telecom network in India, from aluminium to textile, from chemical to paper, the ubiquitous influence of Aditya Birla Group is felt by all. The reason why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life lies in the core mission of the business which is to be “premium global conglomerate with a clear focus on each of the businesses.” ABG stands apart and dominates each of our lives so distinctly well because of the attention to detail and catering to customer satisfaction in each industry they are a part of and each company they run. The company has dominance across 14 industrial sectors and runs so many companies, each managed most efficiently and outgoing in the way it understands its stakeholder, evolving and adapting continuously and giving customers new stories to tell and new experiences to share. The management and leadership team of ABG and all its employees believe in excellence in all their endeavors. If I look at ABG and my connection personally, ABG is what binds my life together. Whether it is the telecom network I use, the place I shop or the values I believe in, ABG comes into the frame. My family members are employed by ABG who live by its beliefs even at home. Mumbai’s pride - the Bandra-Worli sea link that I use so often stands strong with the Ultra Tech cement. Birla Copper Limited provides the largest share of the copper requirement to the Indian Railways and makes my adventures and travel diaries possible. ABG is big and dauntless. The Group has always strived to put India’s dominance on the global map and to me, that is what makes it the biggest of all. The fact that the company is in the league of Fortune 500 companies and has a global footprint with Indian roots and belief; it is the flag bearer for India’s outreach and reputation in the world.

The Hindi word ’jigar’ comes to my mind on reflecting back on my life and the various challenges I have overcome to be where I am today. Having my heart in the right place, having the heart to do the right thing and giving my 100% in whatever I do has really helped to achieve my dreams.  I was a quiet, introverted girl in my school days and faced severe stage fear and performance anxiety.  I was a diligent student but outside the four walls of the classroom, I was afraid. Then it was in Class 9 that I took a leap of faith and with guidance from my English professor, I committed myself to improve my narrative and delivery skills. I put in hours and hours of practice to overcome my shyness and this skill even helped me take on leadership roles. I found that I could represent and lead people and in school and college, I represented the Student council of prefects. I took part in oratory, creative writing competitions. Today, in a management school and in the corporate world, these skills have become even more important for as I deliver presentations and cases regularly. Going forward, I see myself making a difference in the industry and also be a catalyst for a social change in society. And it is my determination and perseverance, along with a passion for learning and doing that will bring me there. I push myself in the direction of my dreams and the career that I aspire to have by building myself continuously. I feel that there is no end to learning and I seek feedback and knowledge from all around. The zeal to learn and improve myself and the integrity of my actions and decisions is what has helped be the person I am today, studying in one of the best B-Schools in the country and learning to make my mark in the industry.
