The roots of the Aditya Birla Group go back to almost a century before India’s independence from colonial rule. Indeed, its role in India’s economic history is tied inextricably with the nation’s quest for political freedom. The foundation of the Birla business empire, which was eventually divided among the members of the subsequent generations, was laid by Shiv Narayan Birla, who started cotton trading in Pilani, Rajasthan, in 1857
The 18 charitable hospitals run by the Aditya Birla Group serve more than a million villagers. Patients pay $2 as a one-time registration charge and under $10 for a doctor’s consultation. About 15% of the beds are reserved for the poor, who are treated largely for free. Last year the non-profit hospital which is near pune and first among the 18 hospitals treated 140,000 patients. Apart from hospitals, the centre runs 3,500 medical camps annually, where 3 million patients are treated and surgeries for ailments such as cataracts and cleft lip are performed. It also operates 20,000 booths providing polio vaccines to children.
This philanthropic initiative by Birla group is very helpful to villagers where medical services are very poor and good medical service is a dream. Products of Aditya Birla Group touches many lives in form of utility of that product like there cement, Idea network, Garments, but this the Aditya Birla Center for Community Initiatives and Rural Development, chaired by Rajashree is the most useful and providing better life standards to villagers and poor.
In India Getting into a good B-school is a big achievement, but story of hard work behind that is not getting light of the day. For me that hard work and dedication for almost a year is something which gave me a great learning and challenges. It all started with a thought “how to do business in a better way” that led to various entrance exams through which we can join a B-school. Preparation of entrance exams is harsh every other day I felt like I will not score good marks and will not clear cut-off of good B-school. Waiting for the result of any exam is make people more tense every passing day felt like hell. Which college to apply is also a big task and we have to consider budget, reputation of college, return of invest, etc. Interview process is the last part of this process but it is most difficult part of the process, where you have to convince the other person that you are the right person for that institute in 15 to 30 minutes. Struggle of almost a year gave results and I got selected in Goa Institute of Management.
B-school life is also a challenge in itself. New life style, new people, new place and everybody here is running a race to get a good job in this race I am struggling with my initial thought because of which I started this journey. “Every moment will give you some experience that will help you in future to be better person” this is what gives me strength to go further when going gets hard.
