We all know that the Aditya Birla Group is one of the premier business conglomerates in India. It started as a jute manufacturing company in 1919, and keeping in mind to dream big and provide various products to the public at a reasonable price, it subsequently transformed into a leading multi product corporation covering various business sectors.
It has been a part of our lives since its inception, and has impacted all of us in some way or the other. Starting from the house where I live, the vehicle in which I travel, the mobile phone which I use to connect to the people, and the clothes which I wear, the Aditya Birla Group has contributed in all these fields. When I was a child, I was fascinated by all the clothes when I used to go shopping in Pantaloons and People. When I got my own mobile phone, Idea's network helped me to connect with my family and friends, especially when I was staying away from home. While growing up, in some way or the other, it has always been a part of me.
Aditya Birla Group has impacted millions of lives and has taught me how to confidently tackle against all odds and strive to make my dreams come true. When I propel back to my childhood memories, I remember that I faced a lot of problems while interacting with people. I used to feel very shy whenever a stranger tried to talk to me. I did not use to talk to anyone except my family members and a few friends. My parents were worried that I'll find it difficult surviving in the outside world due to my reticent nature. I remember I was only four when I had to get admission to a school. My parents filled out the forms of all the schools possible and they worked very hard to prepare me for the interviews. On the day of the interviews, I didn't speak a word in front of the teachers. As a result, I wasn’t selected in any of the schools except one. Since I was a very hard-working kid, my teachers made me participate in various elocution competitions, and made me sit beside different students, so that I can open up and talk to them. This thing was very new to me, because I was out of my comfort zone. Initially I was reluctant to interact with everyone, but soon it turned out to be fun. I made many new friends, and we used to play together during recess. All of them were very supportive, and they helped me in overcoming the fear of interacting with the strangers. As I grew up, I took part in various public speaking and declamation competitions to hone my oratory skills. In the competitions, I faced many failures, and felt that I really needed to work on my speaking skills. Eventually, I became better with practice and people started praising me. This gave me confidence, and even though I felt nervous a day before the competitions, I knew that failure is the stepping stone to success and that I had worked very hard to reach upto that level, and this made me feel comfortable. Later, this also helped me in achieving my dream of getting into VGSoM, a premier B School.
Had it not been my will and determination to fight against all odds and try to speak effortlessly and fluently in front of everyone, I would never have fulfilled my dream of pursuing MBA. With this perseverance and zeal to excel, I believe I can achieve any goal that is set in front of me, just like the way the Aditya Birla Group has taught me.
