Why Aditya Birla group is big in your life? There's one word of many that comes to your mind when you hear of the Aditya Birla Group, its "Omnipresent" and also "Omnipotent". ABG is an Indian mulitnational conglomerate, headquartered in Mumbai, which operates in 35 countries with more than 120,000 employees worldwide. From infrastructure to lifestyle, you name it and they have done it. The group has interests in viscose staple fibre, metals, cement (largest in India), viscose filament yarn, branded apparel, carbonblack, chemicals, fertilisers, insulators, financial services, telecom, BPO and IT services. The group is the largest manufacturer of Carbon Black worldwide. Grasim Industries was ranked 154th in a list of the world's best regarded firms compiled by Forbes. It was started in 1948 as a textile manufacturer. The group's firm Aditya Birla Fashion & Retail Ltd sells in-house brands such as Louis Philippe, Allen Solly, Van Heusen, Peter England and People via their individual brand stores and through other multi brand outlets. The Aditya Birla Group’s retail store enterprise – Madura Fashion & Lifestyle – is one of the strongest developing brand clothes corporations throughout The Indian subcontinent.
The Group was founded in 1857, same year when the Indian Rebellion of 1857 against the rule of British East India Company started. So, I totally feel the story of Aditya Birla Group is the story of India. Both have perserved and stood the test of time. Another uncanny similarity is the year in which India got independence and the daunting task of establishment of Grasim Industries. ABG took the onus upon itself to make sure that it was quintessential for the nation to grow and make progress and make a mark in the world. Since its inception ABG has been serving to the people and catering to their needs. The Group has been a torchbearer and paragon of growth and prosperity. This is the reason why I admire and thing that ABG is not just big part in my life, but almost a billion lives.
how you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far.
I come from a close-knit Maharashtrian family. I have completed my schooling in Subhedar wada highschool . Then went on to complete diploma from NES polytechnic. Everything was rosy till I moved to Pune for my undergraduate studies. Things changed, people changed, I moved away from my family. Life took a detour when I started to discover myself as well as my blindspots. It was only then that I realised that I had my share of them and it was time I start working on them. With academics I started to participate in various college activities, presentations, projects and made lifelong friends whom I cherish. It was in my UG that I decided to work on my rough edges and communication. I really worked hard and my friends assistance proved monumental. It was in my UG itself that I decided that I will pursue MBA from a reputed college.
After my UG, I started to give full time to my MBA entrance exam preparations. I worked quite hard but much to my dismay, I could not crack it. I decided to give it another shot, again I failed to score the top-notch marks but got shortlisted in a prestigious college but could not get through the interview round, I was shattered. I must describe myself as a calm and imperturbable person but I had to admit that I had never dealt with such a failure and disappointment in my life. paralelly I started investing money in stock market. I was also looking for a job, after a while I got an opportunity at TATA Asset management company and I cracked the interview. After the training, much to my pleasant surprise, I was absorbed in the the Institutional Sales vertical which I soon realised was a blessing. I took to sales as duck to water, soon I was meeting succesful and industrious industry people which broadened my horizons about the job as well as life. I understood a golden rule about sales, it's not just about the pitch (spiel), its about being present at the right time with the right information. I was ecstatic at work, again made some great friends and learned tremendously. Alongside, Job and stock market, I gathered courage and decided again to appear for MBA exams as I was more hungry for knowledge and betterment. Also, I thought that with this experience my MBA decision made more sense. I appeared for CMAT 2019 and managed to score good percentile, got shortlisted for an interview and converted the college. It was the same college that I got rejected from, GIM, Goa. I was elated and I learnt a life lesson, that you dont recognize good times if you dont have bad ones. Thank you for the oppotunity. Ever hungry and ever happy.
