Part B

Albert Camus once said: “life is the sum of all your choices”. These choices shape our future. During my engineering days, I made one such choice. I was in the third semester when I joined NPO “Rang De Zindagi”, it’s a student-driven organization. Our Organisation works for teaching fundamental mathematics to underprivileged children and brings them to a platform where they can comprehend things in a better way. Along with the team, we also conducted various fun activities and events on special occasions to increase the interest of children. Now, it has been registered, as NGO under Government of India. When I joined the organization it was in its early days. I took the initiative with the seniors for developing the methodology for providing education in a systematic way. We discussed and came together with the curriculum we can follow for the students. But this was not our only issue, the other problem was the language barrier as the majority of the volunteers were from the English medium school and the mode of teaching needed to be in Hindi. So, we first gave a small training for Hindi terminology for the subject(Maths).  Also,   we implemented worksheet to track the progress of our students. So, that we can keep track our efforts are having positive outcomes. Our mission is to help each and every student to learn the basic of the subject. We dreamt of teaching them and still working towards providing basic education in 8 schools across Indore.  I was also the president of the organization during the tenure 2014-15.Currently, I am an active member of the core committee of the NGO.I learned a lot through it.  The organization gave me the opportunity to work on real-time situations and come with a solution. Whenever there is a problem there is a solution, we just need to work in the right direction.  A positive outcome will come around.
