Part 1:
Aditya Birla Group is an Indian multinational conglomerate, headquartered in Worli, Mumbai, India. It operates in 35 countries with more than 120,000 employees worldwide. The group was founded by Seth Shiv Narayan Birla in 1857. The group has interests in viscose staple fiber, metals, cement (largest in India), viscose filament yarn, branded apparel, carbon black, chemicals, fertilizers, insulators, financial services, telecom, BPO, and IT services.
Naturally, ABG has touched my life and life around me a lot starting from everyday items like my clothing to the cement that is the foundation of our home. I would like to tell a story about the same. We and our neighbors started the construction of houses at the same time. There was a lot of discussion regarding the cement to be used. Since both owners never had any experience regarding the same, we were totally dependent on the advice given by others. After a lot of thinking and research, UltraTech cement was finalized. But at the last moment, our neighbor shifted to some other brand. Now after ten years the results are clearly visible. We never had any problem, but our neighbors had to deal with cracks, damp walls and a lot of other issues related to the cement quality. Sometimes my parents think over and realize that if we had also shifted to the other brand, we might also be facing the same problems. In a nutshell, ABG products have become part of our family and the recipient of trust have been tested time and again. If ABG product is available then that would be chosen without much discussion.
Part 2:
“You should never view your challenges as a disadvantage. Instead, it's important for you to understand that your experience facing and overcoming adversity is actually one of your biggest advantages.” – Michelle Obama
Rightly said by Michelle Obama, challenges shape the personality and the change depends upon the way they are handled. A challenge faced gracefully shapes the person just like the heat shapes a beautiful necklace. Sometimes society also poses some challenges to the people and I faced something similar. When I decided to do an MBA and go for corporate life, I faced a lot of criticism. Since people in my area prefer government job over the private one, this reaction was expected. From my relatives to friends all advised me to drop the idea and go for government exam preparation. The reasons being job security, no one was doing that in the area and people had no knowledge what the career options were. Although almost everyone opposed my parents believed in me and supported my decision. With their help, dedication, and self-confidence I was successful in the task. Today when I look back, I thank my parents for believing in me. The incident taught me to make the decisions and then prove them right.
