ABG-Challenges build your personality- Yaswanthi Polineni, IIM Visakhapatnam
Life isn’t a cakewalk as we want it to be and we face numerous challenges every day from beginning to end of it. Every single circumstance keeps us in challenging situations, we have to overcome them and become fruitful in our lives. The biggest challenge I faced in my life was staying in the hostel for the first time at a very early age of 11.
As my parents can’t afford quality education, I appeared for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test which selects gifted children from each district in India and provides free residential education for 7 years from 6
th to 12
th standard. I got selected and joined Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Ongole. From the first day, I confronted many challenges as I never stayed away from my family and more connected to my dad. I was too young to take care of myself and know my responsibilities. I am very introverted to interact with outsiders. I used to cry every day because homesickness, became ill and was unable to cope up with the new curriculum. I want to leave the school and want to stay with my mom and dad. All these affected my academics and discouraged me much more.
I chose to overcome this. School gave me better opportunities to prove myself. I knew all this suffering going to make me a better and confident human later on. I have to thrive on making the situation better every day. I started to take care of myself, started concentrating on my academics and making companions. All this made me progressively independent and disciplined. I began to engage myself and made me busy. I started excelling in academics, sports and cultural activities. I began enjoying my hostel life and knowing people from different backgrounds. I felt my hostel as my home and roommates as my family. Today what I am is all because of my school life. I will cherish my school life throughout my life because it made me bold enough to accept challenges in my life with spirit.
ABG IS SIGNIFICANT IN MY LIFE
Aditya Birla Group is the third-biggest private conglomerate in India. It made the world think about India as it has operations and reaching millions of people internationally. It has a business presence in various sectors including metals, cement, branded apparel, chemicals, financial services, telecom and many more. It is the largest producer of carbon black and made my car and bike ride safe. The products of the Aditya Birla Group gave me more satisfaction and value. Though my native place is a small town, ABG has opened More and Pantaloons. I visit them for products that were not available earlier in my place before and people in my town got exposed to a broad variety of products. It was my family dream to have our own house, Ultratech cement gave the best to our house and gave more durability to our dream.
Being a brand freak, I purchased all the apparel brands of ABG and most satisfied with the product quality, durability and sustainability. I am impressed with Liva fabric which is natural cellulosic fibre. Now I am buying garments only having a Liva tag because they are very comfortable, environmentally friendly, and it never fades. I am unhappy with every telecom network, I used because of internet speed, call drops and network issues. Vodafone became one solution to all these problems. Idea is the only network that is good in my village and gave my grandparents and me good opportunities to be in contact on skype or WhatsApp. Being from a middle-class family never hindered me to get the best products and services because of the Aditya Birla Group. I got every product at the best price possible. ABG’s CSR activities in health care, education, sustainable livelihood, infrastructure and model villages helped many people who are deprived of basic amenities. I got influenced by this and did many things for the society.
ABG became inevitable in my life and it is really big in my life.
