Why Aditya Birla Group is big in your life?
I hail from rural area of Gujarat where people used to feel blessed when they get 8 hours of electricity in 2000. And having good cellular connectivity in my village was distance dream. It was until 2002 when Birla Tata AT&T incorporated operations in Gujarat Circle and my village got cellular connectivity. Now, we could stay connected to our distant relatives which was all due to excellent network coverage of Idea. Our people can’t thank enough to Idea. First Pucca road connecting my village to nearest town built with UltraTech Cement. Villagers were delighted to have first cement road in village. Aditya Birla group has great contribution in fulfilling basic new era basic need of villagers. When I first moved out from my village and bought first smart phone, I found cover glass for smart phone was made up of another Aditya Birla Group brand named Hindalco. That was really ‘Big in my Palm’. When I went out for my first date, I was little skeptical as I am a shy person. While we ordered food, I realized both of us were wearing forever 21 brand and that was the real ice breaker and then the conversation started to flow. Also, quality of apparel of various Aditya Birla brands such as Peter England, Van Heusen, made me loyal customer of these brands. And then when it comes to wealth creation, I have seen my family members investing in Aditya Birla mutual fund and their trust in Birla group has grown over the years. Now currently pursuing MBA at NMIMS, I am aspiring to work with organization which has impacted my life since my childhood. I really feel that ‘Aditya Birla Group is big in my life’.
How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far?
Sudden entrustment of responsibilities and allotment of work being handled by other colleague leaving organization made my work area horizontally expanded. I took this challenge as an opportunity and performed well pushing my limits and raising bars and successfully executed work allotted. In one incidence during project, for achieving important Project milestone of EPC Project on scheduled time, all required deliverable need to be supplied on time. I was deputed at Vendor works for expedite supplies. I critically examined and prioritized deliverable sequence and as outcome Project Milestone (which earlier seemed difficult to achieve) achieved on scheduled time. Lessons I learnt from these situations are not to lose hope and be self-motivated. Stop just wishing and start doing. Tasks may look difficult, but when we start pursuing, we will find ways to achieve it. I am born in small village and started my education in village in vernacular language. Further I pursued my High school and Higher Secondary education in Vernacular language (Gujarati) only. After getting admission in one of the best colleges of Gujarat, during initial phase of my Engineering I faced difficulties with English language due to sudden shift of education language from Gujarati to English. I scored less in initial semester exams. I took it as a challenge and started preparing and practicing rigorously. I changed my daily routine and made English learning as a part of it. Slowly I learnt new language and started scoring well in further exams.
All these events built rich experience in my personal and professional life. I have faith that these experiences will help achieve my long-term objective of work as leader in corporate world leading diverse projects and grow with Indian growth story.
