Eleanor Roosevelt once said, and I quote,
“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams”. A well-suited quote for Aditya Birla Group whose roots dates back to the pre-independence era and today stands as a proud Indian multinational conglomerate with its presence in 42 countries. The farsightedness and business acumen of the ABG group resulted in group companies becoming a silent partner of billions of people across the globe in every walk of life. Be it fashion needs to ethnic clothing to cellular needs to help to build homes to financial services, ABG companies are at your disposal now and then. ABG group has no doubt unprecedentedly strengthened independent India’s economy, infrastructure and bolstered India’s global footprint.
ABG - a love, an inspiration, a way of life!!!
The knot which ties me to Aditya Birla Group is their journey of adding value and adding purpose, which has been my life’s mantra as well. I am currently pursuing my MBA at IIM Visakhapatnam with an endeavor to gain knowledge, expertise, and skills with which I may add value to my society and nation at large. ABG inspires me to tread this path with unwavering faith. ABG’s five core values of Integrity, Commitment, Passion, Seamlessness, and Speed can serve as the five commandments or 5 Mantra’s for success in today’s challenging world and can help one leave a signature. ABG has always been big in my life. For a shopaholic like me finding everything trending under one roof in Pantaloons and Planet Fashion was a great relief. Be it all my favorite brand apparels, latest shoe collections, bags for my mom or sister, or helping me getting dress ready for any festival, ABG never failed to embark its presence in my life. Choosing on to classic formals for my office and now B-school, Louis Phillipe, Allen Solly, and Peter England never disappoints me.
I am an avid traveler and loves to explore places around. As an undergrad, as a working professional, I have tried to encash every possible travel opportunity I got so far. Witnessing the 5.6 Km Bandra-Worli-Sea-Link or Yeshwantpur-Nelamangala Expressway and so many other state-of-the-art infrastructures in India which are results of UltraTech Cement was a great experience. ABG has very well understood the infrastructural needs of this developing nation and left an ever-lasting mark in this field.
My cellular needs are also very well taken care of and addressed by Aditya Birla Group with Idea and Vodafone providing high-speed data services even in the remotest of the locations. Right out of school, my first phone came with Idea SIM card, and to this date, I am a satisfied customer of the same.
There is not a single corner of my life, and definitely of most Indians, which is left untouched by Aditya Birla Group and no doubt, ABG helped to strengthen this nation by empowering and strengthening every individual.
Challenge - an uneasy but thankful time!!!
George S. Patton, General US Army, while commanding the 7th Army in World War II said, and I quote,
“Accept the challenges so that you can feel the exhilaration of Victory”. I come from a city known for its coaching institutes for JEE exam and grown seeing those big hoardings of various coaching institutes proudly flaunting their achievements in one of the most prestigious exams of the nation. Hailing from a city which produced most of the IIT toppers, it became a dream for me to get an admit to one of the prestigious Engineering colleges in India and pursue bachelors’ degree in engineering. I worked hard for two years in XI and XII standard but only to receive failure in all the engineering entrance exams I took. My confidence broke. Thrashed, frustrated, de-motivated, I almost decided to drop the plan to do engineering and explore some other career.
Family, as they say, is the backbone of an individual. No matter what you lost, where you stand, how far you went, take a turn and look back, you will find them standing with arms wide open. My father, in those times of troubled water, sailed me through. He planned a short road trip to my ancestral village where we spend four days enjoying the nature, having our traditional Rajasthani food, in short, away from those big hoardings, those coaching advertisements and thousands of bi-cycles with students clad in merchandise T-shirts of various institutes. He motivated me to give one more shot to my dream, an idea I completely rejected four days ago, and I felt the belief he had in me. All he said was that this is the time God is testing you and checking your endurance level, it’s up to you whether you succumb to it or come out fighting it for the thing you want, the dream you endured.
I decided to pack my bag and study again with my heart and soul into it, changed my strategies, worked on weak areas, took guidance from my mentors and finally one year of my hard work paid off and I got an admit to a college of national importance where I completed my B.Tech.
Life never stops throwing challenges at you; it’s only you who decides what nature of the impact, harm, or damage it does. You can either view a challenge as a defeat or an opportunity. Through this life incident, I learned that every challenge comes with an opportunity; it is up to us what we make out of it.
Today when I look back, nothing but a smile flashes on my face. That failure was something that led me to feel the exhilaration of Victory (as General Patton said) and the importance of hard work we put in something.
Life after that incident is different, I do not panic now, I keep my calm, and in times of any challenge and hurdle, I just try to take a big picture view and then decide my course of action. Here I am today pursuing my Post Graduation, also from a college of national importance.
Let’s have fun Zindagiii!!!
