How Have You Made an Impact
Born and brought up in small city of Uttar Pradesh, struggling with life and time, today I am in Indian Institute of Management. The journey is long but the passion is still alive to reach the destination. Mo Farah said it right, “Look at my success. I didn’t achieve it overnight. It had been the product of many years’ struggle, and every year, my times have shown gradual improvement”
In my younger days, I was not a very studious student and scores average marks. I was bullied for my big round specs in my class, nobody was my friend. I use to see my classmates laughing and giggling with each other and long for those happy moments. Facing these situations every day, leaves me with teary eyes and complaining to god about my bad life. All this went until one day.
This day changed my life, I was in 1
st Standard, it was a winter morning, my teacher was going to show copies of half yearly exam, she was announcing everyone’s marks, my turn came and she announced my marks, I didn’t score well, I felt embarrassed in front of entire class, my score was not min, but still much bad, that feeling changed me. I became studious but the struggle didn’t stop.
It was a time when my Grandfather passed away, I saw my family broke down, it was a time of financial crisis, I struggled, survived and helped my family in whatever ways I can. The biggest struggle of belonging from a small city is facing the conservationist and narrow thinking of people, but surpassing their views and proving them wrong by your actions is what I believe in. Their demoralising thoughts didn’t stop me from achieving more, but instilled even more desire to go further.
ABG helped in overcoming my under confidence by instilling confidence in whatever I wear through its branded apparel brands like Pantaloons, Planet fashion, People, Forever 21.
I admire the Aditya Birla Group scale up expansion of LIVA Accredited Partners Forum(LAPF) – an initiative to improve the textile value chain in smaller towns and cities as this initiative can help many more like me.
