Part A:
Since my childhood, my grandfather has been the only person to whom I look up to for motivation and inspiration. He is the Superman of my stories, whether be it studies or my personal life. I always ask for his advice and think about what he would do in such a situation. However, there has been someone else who even my Grandfather follows, and that is ABG. My grandfather trusts only Raymond clothes, be it regular clothing or formals. Raymond has been in the family since the last three generations. My father also has been with the B.K. Birla group for the past 28 years in the cement sector, and soon, the company is going to be merged with the ABG at the end of this year. He has been working with the same company all his life because of the trust that the Birla group shows in their employees, the ethical work culture, the opportunities that are given to employees for their growth and most importantly, the values of the Birla group to bring a change in the society. So I can say that ABG has impacted my life since my birth and surely will be there in the coming years.
Part B:
"Great businesses are never built on the quicksands of opportunism. I reiterate that, if living by our values means, perhaps growing at a pace slower than we would otherwise have liked, so be it. For us, leadership lies at the heart of knowing what we stand for."
Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla
ABG has always strived toward success by following its core values no matter the cost. They have a firm belief in their moral vision and mission and do every business with a mind to bring about a change in society. I also once faced a situation in my life where I had to choose between my career and someone’s life. During my college days, my final examinations were going on, and we used to sleep very late during the nights before the exams. One such night my friend came to my room with a severe stomach ache at 4 a.m. I immediately called the ambulance and took him to the hospital where we came to know that he had stones in his gall bladder and needs to be operated. I had two options in front of me to leave him there and attend my exam or to wait there and be with him until his parents come. I chose to stay with him as my values did not allow me to leave my friend alone in such a horrific situation. I missed my exam, and we both gave the supplementary examination together when he recovered. So for me, success is not more important than someone’s life.
