A sole proprietor who sells fast food on a busy road side has an impact on thousands of people throughout the life of the business. A multinational conglomerate like Aditya Birla Group impacts millions of consumers and more than 120,000 employees belonging to 42 nationalities all across the globe. That’s the power and influence a global organization can have on the society. That’s the level of impact they can make by creating a ripple effect.
From buying a suit for my father’s retirement from Van Heusen to buying clothes from my first salary for my sister from Forever 21 and a bag for my mother from Ted Baker to getting my first mobile phone ever with a Vodafone connection, ABG has touched my life. You buy products from various brands but you remember them only if the product was good and the service was impeccable. ABG has provided not only quality products but also worthwhile experiences for memorable occasions.
Also, I am deeply concerned about environmental issues that we are facing and I strive to do my best for the cause. According to the Living Planet Report by WWF, our activities and the level of resource exploitation have increased drastically and the environment is getting deteriorated beyond its ability to regenerate. Every effort will count to save the planet and the efforts that ABG has taken for sustainability are remarkable. Liva fabric which is not only comfortable but also eco-friendly. ABG is the largest recycler of used beverage cans and the roofing sheets are 100% eco-friendly. Along with this they have signed the World Business Council for Sustainable Development’s WASH Pledge. The pledge encourages businesses to confirm that they supply safe drinking water, good sanitation and hygiene for all employees across all operations.
I believe that even if you touch the life of a single individual in a positive way, you have changed the world to be a better place and ABG has done that for me and perhaps for millions of others.
My strategies to overcome challenges in order to achieve my ambitions
Even though the Earth is rotating along its axis the same way as it always does but the pace of life has increased dramatically in this unpredictable world full of positive and negative changes.
I have experienced my own set of challenges. One major challenge I faced was when my grandfather died on the day of my first board examination of class 12
th. I had been motivated since the beginning to succeed but this incident shook me. I wasn’t sure of how I would go further but I decided to honour my grandfather my being dedicated to what I wanted to achieve. It was tough but I made it through and I became my school topper and got admission in SRCC, my dream college.
Another challenge which had a huge impact on me was when I saw an over speeding car run over a 3-month-old puppy and didn’t even stop to offer help. I took the puppy to the hospital and she lost one of her legs. I decided to do something about it, so I petitioned online to PWD to construct speed breakers on the said road. The road had no speed breakers and it was right outside a college. So, it posed a threat to students and animals. There were lot of bureaucratic delays in dealing with the police and PWD, but I didn’t stop. Four months after I started petitioning the speed breakers were constructed on the road and the puppy was adopted by a loving family.
In this ever-changing world what I think is that we need to be mentally stable to overcome challenges because the first step to deal with any kind of challenge is to not let it devastate you emotionally and not to let failure destroy your spirit. Yes, hard work is required but mental stability is the first step to overcome any challenge.
