why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life
Aditya Birla Group is one such brand, which I believe every Indian kid has been hearing since their childhood, and I was no exception. I couldn’t realise why the name Birla was so famous at that time. But, as I grew up, I started learning why.
Aditya Birla Group is one of the biggest Indian multinational conglomerates, spread across 39 countries with work force of more than 120000 and has its existence since 1857. What amaze me the most, are its achievements! Starting with cotton trading from a tiny Indian village at Pilani, Rajasthan, today the group has its presence in 14 industry sectors across the globe. It is in the league of the Fortune 500 companies.
Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited part of Aditya Birla Group has some of the popular international brands under its name including Allen Solly, Peter England, Van Heusen, Louis Philippe, Pantaloons and others under it. As an Indian I feel really inspired to see so many international brands owned by an Indian group. In the cement industry, Ultratech cement is one the most trusted brand across Indian and Indian subcontinent. It’s reach in the telecom sector is well known to every one of us. An idea that changed my life. The group’s contribution towards the energy and finance sector has also been very significant.
Finally, Aditya Birla group has got some of the best global leaders, who gives more importance to the values rather than growth. All of this make the group so big.
how I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions
Challenges are a part of life. We face some or the other challenge every day. One of the major challenges that I face is to get back into the feet quickly after a major failure. I faced this challenge during the final placements of my undergrad. My engineering college was not among the top engineering colleges of the country. So, chances of getting into a decent company was very low. During our time TCS was the only company that was coming to pick more than 50 candidates directly from the college. I prepared really well for the interview, but for some reason I couldn’t make it to the final list.
I was morally down, I couldn’t sleep the whole night and kept on crying. Then my father talked to me, and he reminded me that failure is the key to success. After, getting a good talk from my father. I tried to get back and give my best shot again. I was able to make it to iGATE Global solutions now Capgemini in a Pool Campus recruitment drive where only 56 students were selected out of 450+ students from 12 Engineering colleges across West Bengal.
I have failed a lot of time in my life, but every time I kept on trying again and again and when you achieve success after a lot of efforts it gets sweeter than ever. Getting selected for IIM Nagpur PGP is one such moment for me.
