ABG- The definition of success IIM SIRMAUR

ADITYA BIRLA GROUP itself defines success. And success is not just about the opportunities that come, it's about the ones which we create. 

ABG is a multinational group, having its headquarters at Worli, Mumbai, India. ABG was founded by Seth Shiv Narayan in 1857.

ABG's presence in our lives is massive. It contributes in the form of so many products, which makes our lives way too easy, better, comfortable and lavish. ABG has contributed as numerous amount of products in India as well as worldwide since Independence. Branded Apparel, Black Carbon, Cement, Metals, Staple fabric etc. are one the most prominent contributions of ABG. 

NON FERROUS METALS have been one of the most significant products by HINDALCO INDUSTRIES Ltd., an ALUMINUM and COPPER manufacturing company, working under ABG. It was founded 61 years ago in 1985. HINDALCO is one of the largest industries of rolling aluminium and largest contributor of primary Aluminium in Asia. It employees approximately 20,000 people and has annual sales of around 15 billion dollars. 

Heading towards very next contributions which is CEMENT, this business was earlier under ULTRA TECH CEMENT and GRASIMS INDUSTRIES. These two have been blended now to form India’s largest cement company, THE ULTRA TECH CEMENT. The ultra tech was taken by LARSEN AND TOURBO in 2004, and it became biggest Indian leading construction company in India.

Coming to the other contributions of ABG , FASHION marks a great value in one’s culture. 

Fashion is all that sets up a personality paradigm. Fashion is just not about wearing different stuff but about apparent reflection of your personality and hence, it sets a great importance. ADITYA BIRLA GROUP shows a flambeau of victory here in the fields of FASHION too. 

Aditya Birla Group sells branded fibre online as well as in stores offline. Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd. sells in house brands such as Van Huesen, Allen solly, Peter England, Louis Phillipe done via individual brand stores or multiple brand outlets in market. 

Also, a men’s clothing brand 'Planet fashion’, has more than 150 retailers through out India. 

Lifestyle and Madura Fashion is also one of the mind blowing and enormously growing clothing brands throughout Indian sub continents.

When it comes to sharing “AMBITION”, I would love to explore the depth of this very word. Ambition is the primary and the most significant march on the path of success, and secondly is the amount of action and energy we pour into it. 

Having a right ambition uncomplicates the half journey towards our principal objective. We all have ambitions and aspirations, and to live those in reality, we prepend a lot of hard work and movement into it. We confront numerous challenges and unrevealed pitfalls. And so did I. 

I belong to a family which lacks in the field of education. And it was difficult for me to comprehend the right career opportunity. After clearing my board examinations, I wasn't clear in my head about what to do but I was clear about what not to. And it was engineering. When I scrutinised my mark-sheet, I saw my score as 98 in mathematics and hence, decided to do Mathematics honours from Delhi University. 

After accomplishing my first year and exploring different career trials and their scope, I made my ambition transparent. I decided to go for “CAT”. I wanted to pursue MBA and that too from a reputed institute and the Institute that gradually became my dream Institute was “INDIAN INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT”. 

Managing my work load during my graduation and with preparation for CAT simultaneously was not an easy job initially. During the last days of preparation, my schedule was very strenuous and tiresome. As my semester exams and CAT exam were on my head and that dates were clashing (semester exam on one day and CAT exam on the following day), I wanted to excel in both of them. I made a proper approach and built a proper strategy to give reasonable amount of time to both. I struggled with my sleep and also missed my Diwali vacation at home. I stayed in Delhi to cover all my syllabus. 

After all this commitment towards my ambition, it paid off well. I secured 95.6 percentile in CAT and passed my semester exams with a 7.5 CGPA. It was a big achievement for me because I was the one of the first few persons in my family to excel in field of education. 

But clearing CAT wasn't the last stumbling block in my path to IIM, interviews held a great importance in achieving what I aspired for. 

Again my honours classes and mock interviews dates used to clash, but I managed somehow. 

I used to attend classes in the morning and prepare for my interviews in the evening. I used to do it while travelling in metro while coming back home or while going somewhere. 

Inspite of all hardships and challenges I faced, I always believed myself. Today, as a result, I am able to write this article while sitting at an IIM itself.
