From the time when my mother used to wake me up for school and with the eagerness of knowing what is wrapped in Freshwrapp in tiffin box, to the urge of shopping clothes according to the newest trends at People and Pantaloons, to the time where I came to know the importance of formal wear, Aditya Birla Group has been everywhere in my life.
Growing with hearing the famous “Birla” name as the rich, I had a little idea about the brands until my 12thwhen I realized that ABG is all around me. Watching the commercials like “Ultratech Cement : The Engineer’s Choice” on TV made me mumble these tag lines unknowingly anywhere anytime.
The brands coming under Aditya Birla Group have done wonders and have won many awards and recognitions over the years. The brands like Grasim Industries Ltd, Madhura F&L, Aditya Birla Money Mart have featured in the top and world’s best regarded companies in the recent years.
From a very young age, I wanted to join the Forces and wanted to get into National Defence Academy(NDA)after my 12th std. Hence, I was admitted to Services Preparatory Institute, Aurangabad. There was a time when I was scared to move out of my city of Nagpur. However, in an attempt to achieve my dream, I had to move out of Nagpur to the city of Aurangabad and had to stay in military hostel.
For the first time in 15 years, I was staying away from my mother and family. As I didn’t have cell phone till my 10th Std, my father decided to buy me a new cell phone and I got my personal mobile number, provider being Idea Cellular as it had pretty fast internet speed and had network almost everywhere.
I had a very difficult time there initially, as I had to adjust with the schedule and studies.
Being a military school, we had to wake up at 5 am and had to undergo our physical training.
There was a drastic change in the level of study as I was habitual to the State Board pattern and suddenly after 10 years of schooling in State Board, I had to studyin CBSE now.
I realized that I had to be in Formal Wear now. So before shifting, my Father took me to an Allen Solly store so that I could be dressed good and be prepared for the new life. On a personal level, he also gave me his Van Huesen tie which I looked up to the most.
As time passed, with the support of my teachers, Imanaged to cope up with the physical activities as well as studies. Unfortunately, I was unable to go to NDA.However, I was able to crack AFCAT, 2 years later and Icleared the screening at my SSB interview allowing me to stay at the Air Force Selection Board for 5 days.Unfortunately, even at that time, I was unable to clear the Final round.
Looking forward to the commercial of “UltratechCement: The Engineer’s choice” that came in the year 2011, I was so influenced by the advertisemt which stated, “Not Just Structures, it Builds Dreams”, that I decided to take a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
I completed my BE and worked for two years and I wanted to accelerate my career growth. So, I decided to take up in MBA. I worked and studied hard for it and now I am in one of the best B-Schools in India where I am looking forward to make a name for myself and enter the corporate world on a good note.
