The Aditya Birla Group deals with viscose staple fibre, metals, viscose filament yarn, branded apparel, carbon black, chemicals, fertilisers, insulators, financial services, telecom, BPO and IT services etc. It is largest in the cement industry in India. Needless to say, that this is the group which touches all the citizens of India directly or indirectly. It is working with the strength of 120000 employees all over the world mainly in 35 different countries.
K K Birla is pride of our country. Though he was so busy he continuously visited Pilani every year and continued to meet every one with the joined handed mudra ‘Namaste’. This Inspires me to stay connected to your roots in a world world where a little power changes personality and values of people. This was the simplicity of the man whose dream is ABG.
Birla family started the first high school in Pilani which turned in BITS and today many branches are there throughout the country. The concept of Campus selection for job was not so popular at the early age but I remember that my grandfather got the job in Digjam woollen mills, Jamnagar only because he was pass out from Pilani with a simple degree of B. Com. I also remember, the words of my grandfather that not a single class fellow of him was out of job. ABG was there to offer them bread and butter.
I salute such a noble group which has contributed not only by ways economic tools but at religious level also. Beautiful Birla Mandirs situated at beautiful locations of different cities are there to endorse my statement.
How I overcame challenges in my life?
During the course of transfers in my father’s job when my father got transferred to Madhya P, it was very difficult to switch the medium of study from Gujarati to English as well as from State Board to CBSE in 9th Standard. Not a single English medium school in Bhopal was ready to give admission. I was suggested to go for Hindi medium rather than to waste the entire year. I was so depressed, but I continued the efforts and faced the entry tests of all schools. One school recognised my strength area that is Mathematics and gave admission. A student who was among the toppers previously was struggling to score even the bare minimum passing marks. I interacted with the faculty and staff of the school. Google became my best friend, initially I used to translate my books line to line to understand. Then I started building my terminology, a pocket diary of vocab became my all-time companion. The school was very supportive and they agreed to give me time and support for developing my command over language. The teachers during the entire session were very friendly and supportive. As they were aware about my problem, they always explained everything in Hindi as well.
‘’Try again & again” became my mantra and I kept working hard. I could prove myself to me with 9.2 cgpa in the very next year which was 10th Board. No matter what others say about
you, it is our own determination which makes the path of life. If we accept the challenges positively, roads get flowering automatically.
