We need food, water and air to live. For everything else, there's ABG (Aditya Birla Group). Being Good in Mathematics, I always had a strong affinity towards numbers. Due to my love for numbers, I was always fascinated by the stock market and used to observe and learn the intricacies of stocks. During my college the happiest moment for me was calling my father and telling him that I got my first job and hearing his response. My father did not ask me about the salary but did ask about how I was going to plan my finances. Being an investor, he naturally suggested shelling out few bucks every month for investing for long term thereby controlling my budget. Being a proud part of "Birla Sun Life" family, he suggested investing in BSF mutual funds as they were doing wonders with the numbers. Being keen about it, I pledged to save some money every month to invest in BSF. Cut to this date, It’s been years now that I am proud of being a part of the Birla family. Over the years, only the name of the company has changed to ABC i.e. Aditya Birla Capital but not the warmth and love that they share with their partners. Birla family has always cared for the country and made the difference which is evident from its hard work for the society across the nation. You continue to inspire us with your service. As I wear my Black Van Heusen suit for my MBA orientation, I hope at the end of the journey I get the opportunity to work for the group in a good capacity. I wish this !dea of working with Aditya Birla Group changes my life .
Walking the less traveled road...
I remember coming across a quote by Swami Vivekananda "You can't cross the sea by merely staring at it". This rang a bell in my mind and forced me to contemplate about my life and what I want from it. Coming from a small place in Jammu and Kashmir, I always felt I was lacking opportunities and exposure but I always had the constant urge to learn and grow myself as a person. Being a learner it was a huge challenge for me to whether to stay there with my family or move out to seek new challenges and learn. Knowing the importance of exposure and opportunities I decided to move out of my place and head to Mumbai to pursue my graduation. Next thing I remember was the cultural shock I was exposed to. Knowing the importance of communication and networking, I decided to face my fears and started facing situations with confidence. I was adapting to the new environment. Initially, I failed and faced embarrassment but my positive proactive attitude kept me going. I would do everything that required courage and was slowly able to overcome my fears. And now after almost three years of working, I have lived in 6 different cities wherever opportunity invited me. I have tackled every challenge that my journey threw at me. I don't remember now saying no to anything. We just have to be positive and fearless to face anything. At worst we will fall down but falling down is not bad rather not bouncing back is.
We have to become adaptable to sustain the journey of life. That’s the only way forward. Things in real life don't work our way so it’s important to change the surroundings instead of focusing on changing ourselves from within to make a difference. I have changed from a reactive problem solver to proactive problem finder and solver and that’s what has brought me here at IIM Raipur to face the new
challenges.
