Aditya Birla Group is an Indian multinational conglomerate and the big brand that ABG group is, has instilled in me a dream to be a part of this brand. Aditya Birla Group has indeed been a part of my life from as my father, being a civil contractor, always trusted the brand in cement. I could see that he frequently used and trusted on Ultratech cement for his jobs and he was the one who told me all about Aditya Birla Group and instilled in me a reverence for the brand that it is. Also, Pantaloons has been a big part of all my life as well and I absolutely loved visiting the outlets as it provided an assortment of fashion options to choose from. I came across an opportunity to work as an intern for partner onboarding for UltraTech cement and I was just a bit too excited to be a part of the group even if it was just for a small project. I started the project with a lot of enthusiasm but was unable to continue with the project due to some personal issues but nevertheless, the dream to be a part of the group will be a never-fading one. Life indeed teaches us a lot of things, makes us stronger by testing us in multiple ways and hence making us stronger and pushing us to continuously strive to work hard so as to be a better version of our present selves. Hailing from a small town in Jharkhand, I always had big dreams. Dreams that kept me awake even during my childhood days, preventing me from having a normal childhood because all I cared about was doing better in whatever I chose. The financial condition of my household was never too great, just decent enough that my parents pushed their limits so as to be able to continue my education in a highly esteemed private school in the city. The level of my goals was always higher than what I knew myself capable of, which always made me push myself harder and achieve little parts of the big dream I had. I wanted to be successful, I wanted my parents to be happy and finally be able to rest without stressing too much about the financial conditions. All of this wasn’t easy at all and I frequently used to break down with the burden of my dreams but nevertheless continued persevering harder each day. From getting my name published in the newspapers for good performances in the board exams, to getting admitted to a prestigious state government engineering college, life changed me in a lot of ways. I learned to keep working hard, pick up the broken pieces and start over whenever I failed. My engineering years were just like any other student's, attending classes, studying for exams, waiting for results and starting the process all over again each year. Apart from the regular college life, I was also inclined towards social work during my college days, being a part of Rotaract, I was involved in a lot of social activities. Eye relief camps conducted by Rotaract will always be the highlight of my life. Activities such as engaging with the poor and tending to them during their time at the camp have brought such compassion in me that I will carry it with me throughout my life. What I learned was that social service might or might not help us make money but it will definitely bring peace to the heart and at the end of the day, peace of heart is all that matters. I aspired to be a corporate leader as it all started during my vocational training in an esteemed organization. Being exposed to the industry functions and interacting with the technical and managerial personnel, it didn't take much time for me to decide what appealed more to me. Yes, I wanted to be a manager and contribute to important decisions in an organization. Yes, I wanted to get to that coveted position and yes I wanted to do something for the society. A professional management course would no doubt give me better clarity of thoughts, tremendous flexibility to my career and help me hone my management skills. In a world that is technology-driven, engineers need to go beyond creating products to pricing them and putting them up in the market for what they're worth. It didn’t take much time to get acquainted with the details of the important management entrance exams in the country and formulate a proper strategy to handle the preparations along with college. It was a tough task seeing that there were regular classes, projects, vivas, and examinations. Nevertheless, I had to keep preparing. Soon, it was the exams period and I was far too nervous to face the exams. College mid-terms were going on as well and I was allotted a center in a different city. All this chaos resulted in me losing my nerves and messing up with the exams. The results were to be announced in January. Although I knew I had messed up, I wasn't prepared for the sadness that would follow. By the time it took me to come out of the gloom I realized that I couldn't restart with the preparations until the college ended because of the hectic college schedule. Soon enough college ended and I geared up with the preparations. I started studying single-mindedly for the exams but again I kept having nightmares about failing. Anyway, time passed soon enough and the exams started. And then the agonizing wait for the results. It was like living on the edge every day but soon enough results were announced. Though it wasn't stellar still I had a few interview calls in hand. Now I had to start preparing for the group discussions, written tests and most importantly the interviews. I was very well aware of the importance of these sessions and also that my yearlong ignorance of the worldly affairs was finally going to catch up with me. Nevertheless, I tried my best and soon enough the interviews ended as well. Months passed and the colleges started announcing their shortlists. After a few lists, I was very devastated because I doubted I would get into a college. I started doubting myself, my interviews kept flashing in my mind but soon enough I got an admit in IIM Rohtak. I was happy beyond imagination and started anticipating being a part of such an esteemed institution and hence progressing with my dream of being a corporate professional and contributing to the betterment of society in the long run. Life isn’t just about achieving dreams, its more about pushing harder, overcoming your limits and at the end of the day being satisfied with your efforts.
