Challenges are part and parcels of life. Saying that only I faced the worst of worst would not just be wrong but also an overstatement. We all have our demons and we fight them in our own unique ways.
My biggest challenge was to fight with my own body. When I was diagnosed with a tumour in my chest, I felt helpless, angry and most of all, betrayed. Our body is the reason for our birth and survival. We exist here in reality because of it. To have a life-threatening situation because of the same body felt like a deception. I would be lying if I said it was easy to shift my mindset from a panic free fall state to a more stable one. But after going through all seven stages of grief, I was prepared to go through every obstacle to get well. And I did, without creating any academic gap and keeping my CGPA above 8.8 throughout my undergraduate.
With
patience,
determination,
preparedness and a
sense of responsibility, I was able to hold the metaphorical "
door". Also, it wasn't just that, the support from my family was huge. They helped me to look beyond even when the initial results were sometimes not promising.
It's been more than 5 years to that incident and I believe that taught me a great lesson:
Be prepared and always look forward. One can never know where the trouble arises from but with an optimistic mindset, everything can be conquered. I have used the same motto to move forward with my life and achieve what I once thought was just a dream.
When things are on autopilot and-or in abundance, we lose the value and impact those objects have in our day-to-day lives. Before I sat down and started writing I never realized the impact Aditya Birla Group (ABG) has on my life. Because of the
Ultratech Cement Plant in Shambhupura, Rajasthan, a city in itself was created - “Adityapuram” and I owe the best part of my higher education there in The Aditya Birla Public School, Adityapuram.
Thinking back, I realize that ABG has always influenced my life in one way or another. The aluminium foil my mom used to pack my lunch (
Hindalco Industries Limited) or my clothing (
Allen Solly,
Louis Philippe and
Peter England) or the cement (
Ultratech Cement) that is being used for the construction of my new house or my very first service provider (
Idea Cellular), ABG has been a part of my life.
Though the goal of any corporation is to make profits and maximize the shareholders’ value, ABG does this with a purpose of growth, development and sustainability towards the bigger society. Under the
Aditya Birla Centre for Community Initiatives and Rural Development, ABG has invested more than Rs. 500 crores in CSR activities globally. With
Novelis' "Recycle for Good" initiative to fund "Habitat for Humanity", ABG is helping many families to live their lives in a better home.
With 47 recognized brands in 14 industrial sectors, the Aditya Birla Group has impacted my life in a way no other organisation has done so far. In short, I can agree that the Aditya Birla Group has truly travelled "
A journey like no other".
